As summer begins and the school year comes to a close, June marks a time of change and new routines. Whether you’re a student on break, a parent adjusting schedules, or simply enjoying the start to summer, there’s a fresh energy in the air. At the Collier County Clerk’s Office, we’re here to serve you with transparency and efficiency. This month’s newsletter includes budget updates, key reminders, and useful resources to keep you informed.
June marks an important time for our office, as we prepare the budgets for the next fiscal year. In this newsletter, you’ll find an overview of the proposed budgets for services to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and Collier County Courts for FY2026.
We submitted a balanced budget with county budget guidelines. Due to primarily to rising employee benefits and compensation costs, we are requesting a 3.0% increase in the transfer from the BOCC, totaling $15,650,600. Meanwhile, our Court-related activities, funded through locally generated fees, must be submitted to the Clerk of Courts Corporation (CCOC) by June 1 for approval in September.
Although Collier County’s Court budget is balanced with local revenues, state-level distributions significantly reduce our available funding as proceeds are redistributed across Florida. We are actively working with the Board and the State to advocate for fair funding that supports quality services for our community.
In 2008, our staffing levels reached their peak with 292 employees. As of 2025, we have 220 employees—returning us to staffing levels not seen since the early 2000s. Despite this reduction in personnel, our responsibilities and service demands have continued to grow. At one point, the court’s budget exceeded $10 million. In 2025, that budget has been reduced to just $7.2 million—representing a decrease of more than $3 million. This sharp reduction comes at a time when our county is experiencing rapid population growth and high cost of living. The Annual Update and Inventory Report Workshop was held on June 3, 2025.
Throughout this newsletter, we highlighted how various divisions within the Clerk’s Office have made significant strides in improving efficiency, streamlining operations, and enhancing service delivery over the last few years. From embracing new technologies to refining internal processes, we’ll showcase the ways in which the office has evolved to better meet the needs of the public and function more effectively as a modern government department. We were DOGE before DOGE was cool!
