Government Efficiency Through Secure, Flexible Technology

In today’s fast-paced and technology-driven world, the public expects government services to be not only accessible and transparent but also secure and responsive. For the Clerk of Courts offices, this has meant taking a proactive approach to modernizing our IT infrastructure—not just to keep up, but to excel in the efficiency and delivery of our various services.

One of the most impactful shifts we’ve made is enabling workstation mobility. There are many instances where an employee may be required to remote into our network off-site. With the implementation of a secure wide-reaching VPN solution, our employees now have the flexibility to access our network from virtually anywhere. This “work-from-anywhere” capability has become essential—not just for convenience, but for business continuity. Unforeseen events, emergency closures, or simply allowing flexible work arrangements, our staff can securely connect to all required systems and continue to be of service to the public. It’s a level of adaptability that ensures our services remain uninterrupted, regardless of location.

Equally important is our robust disaster recovery plan. We perform regular, comprehensive backups of our systems to ensure that, should a failure or disruption occur, we can recover quickly and reliably. This preparedness gives our team confidence, a buffer and reduces downtime, allowing us to maintain and recover those essential services. We’ve tested and refined these procedures to the point that getting people back online is not a matter of “if” but “how fast.” – of which we are proud of.

Security, of course, is at the heart of everything we do. In an age where cyber threats have become increasingly sophisticated, we’ve invested in a multi-layered approach to email and network security. This includes real-time scanning of inbound and outbound emails for suspicious attachments or links, as well as URL scanning and user-triggered phishing alert systems. These tools act as the first line of defense, identifying and stopping potential threats before they can take hold. To further reinforce our defenses, we supplement our in-house systems with 24/7 security monitoring. These services continuously scan for and track known anomalies and suspicious behavior and alert our IT team the moment something unusual is detected. Over time this kind of always-on vigilance has proven crucial for catching issues early and reducing risk.

But technology alone isn’t enough, it’s about the people behind the screens too. That’s why we regularly conduct cybersecurity awareness training for all staff. These trainings help keep everyone up to speed on emerging threats and best practices. Whether it’s learning how to spot phishing emails or understanding secure data handling protocols, these sessions have made our staff more confident, informed, and ultimately more efficient in their roles.

These innovations and safeguards aren’t just about staying current, they’re about creating a more resilient, agile, and efficient office. It’s a commitment to delivering modern, secure, and dependable public service that meets the demands of today and tomorrow.
