You have asked about appointments for passport acceptance and the Clerk’s office is answering your inquiry with a new offering. Applicants may now schedule an appointment to submit DS-11 passport forms and documents at a time that works best for them, which is especially welcome during our busiest hours during lunch and at the end of the day. Applications are accepted for adults applying for the 1st time and adults whose passports were issued more than 15 years ago and children.
Simply click the “Passport” tile on the Clerk’s website home page. There, applicants will find answers to the most frequently asked passport-related questions, as well as a link to the official website https://travel.state.gov. At the bottom of the page is a link to our appointment scheduler. It will ask a few questions such, as how many people will be coming to the appointment and if you need passport photos taken. Most importantly, you will find a checklist reminder of documents to bring, application fees, and forms of payment accepted.
Some tips to make your passport appointment as easy as possible:
- The checklist is invaluable and will help you to make sure you have everything you need for your appointment. Running back home for a birth certificate or checkbook is frustrating!
- Applications may be filled out ahead of your appointment but PLEASE do not sign the applications until asked to do so by our Clerk staff. They are available at the main Recording office, most satellite offices, and at https://travel.state.gov.
- Appointments and photos are currently available at our courthouse Recording office only.
- The new appointment schedule has proven popular enough to be completely booked every day. Your appointment time and a passport acceptance agent have been designated especially for you, so if you find that you cannot come for your appointment – because emergencies happen to everyone – it is very helpful if you cancel or reschedule online so that the time slot is available for another customer.
- Applicants qualifying for a passport renewal may not require an appointment as they are mailed by the customer. You are always welcome to come in and have us check and assemble the application before you take it to the post office.
We hope you find this new program convenient and helpful. Please feel free to contact the Recording office with any questions or visit collierclerk.com for more information.
