Michael T. Ryan, CIG, CFE named Clerk’s Inspector General

I am pleased to welcome Michael T. Ryan as the new Inspector General for the Collier County Clerk of the Court and Comptroller’s Office of Inspector General (OIG). In his role, he will be responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of the OIG’s mission of improving the effectiveness of internal controls and preserving the public trust by providing independent, objective audits, reviews and investigations designed to add value and improve County government. 

Mike brings two decades of experience in fraud prevention and investigation. His exemplary professional background and leadership capabilities are expected to improve audit operations while fostering a positive relationship with those we audit.

Mike is an accomplished senior executive with over 20 years of demonstrated success within the federal Inspector General community, including criminal investigations and oversight. He is a Certified Inspector General and Fraud Examiner as well as an innovative leader in implementing programs, leading positive change, driving results, and promoting integrity and accountability in programs and operations, including building strategic partnerships. He has worked in several notable offices, including the Export-Import Bank of the United States, the US Department of Treasury, the US Department of State, and the Social Security Administration. Mike has been recognized for the Senior Executive Service/Senior Level Performance Awards (2016-2023) and the Special Act Award (2024). 

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) provides independent, objective auditing and investigative services designed to add value, improve the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller role, and preserve public trust in government. The OIG provides citizens of Collier County with professional and cost-effective internal audit services to ensure that the resources entrusted to county government are safeguarded. Additionally, the work of the OIG is to educate citizens and policymakers regarding the operation of government while assisting in the administration of the Clerk’s constitutional duties.
