Veterans Day is dedicated to remembering all of the brave men and women who have served in our armed forces. The origin of Veterans Day goes back to 1918 when on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I, then known as the “Great War.” Commemorated in many countries as Armistice Day the following year, November 11th become a federal holiday in the United States in 1938. After World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became known as Veterans Day in the United States.
Transitioning from military to civilian life can be challenging, but many veterans have found that their time in the armed forces instilled skills and values that translate seamlessly into public service. Among our team are several veterans who have not only served their country but now continue to serve their community with the same sense of duty, honor, and integrity. This Veterans Day, I want to take a moment to recognize these exceptional individuals whose military experience has helped shape their work in public service at the Clerk’s Office:

For these veterans, service did not end when they left the military. They are a testament to the lasting impact of military service and the profound sense of duty that drives individuals to continue giving back, long after their time in uniform has ended.
This Veterans Day, we express our deepest gratitude, we honor your sacrifices and celebrate the unique strengths you bring to our team. Your legacy of service is an inspiration to us all.
