“Don’t Be Fooled” Register for Collier County Clerk’s Free Risk Alert Notification System

According to the FBI, property fraud is one of the fastest growing white-collar crimes in the United States. Criminals file fake deeds or other records to appear as if they own the property. They then deceive others  into giving them money to buy or rent those properties.

The Collier County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller offers a free risk alert notification service to help property owners monitor their recorded property records for fraudulent activity.

Subscribers will be sent an email alert when a deed, lien, mortgage or other record matching the subscriber’s criteria has been recorded into the Official Records of Collier County. Your e-mail under this program remains confidential and is not a public record.

Although this service does not prevent the actual fraudulent activity from occurring, it provides the subscriber an opportunity to verify whether the activity was initiated by them or by a scammer committing fraud so that they can take immediate action. Below are some key statistics from our risk alert program over the last several years.

Risk Alert Counts as of 3/5/25

  • Active Registered Emails: 7,024
  • Active Names Being Monitored: 20,064
  • Active Instruments Being Monitored: 3,359
  • Alert Collier County Notices Sent Since Beginning (1/6/20): 8,371

Clerk of Courts cannot assume liability related to the risk alert service or property fraud, but we take every step possible to help prevent these scams.

If you suspect you are a victim of fraud, contact the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-252-9300. If you have questions about the Risk Alert service, please contact the Clerk’s Office at RecordingHelp@CollierClerk.com or (239) 252-2646.
