We\u2019ve significantly reduced juror summons\u2014saving taxpayer dollars while respecting our residents\u2019 time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2022, we implemented the Tyler Technologies Jury Management System to modernize our jury operations. This technology has reduced the number of citizens summoned for service while preserving fair and efficient trials. Collier County was among the first in Florida to adopt the system, and today, the jury process operates at a lower cost than it did before the state\u2019s court budget reductions.<\/p>\n<p>We continue to analyze traditional practices and the number of summons necessary for court proceedings. This approach, combined with effective communication with judges, enhances how jury pools are utilized throughout the day. Today, smarter technology is making that approach more efficient and far less burdensome on the public.<\/p>\n<p>The system brings multiple benefits to both the court and our community:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fewer summons: By using data-driven forecasting, the system more accurately predicts how many jurors are needed, meaning fewer residents are called.<\/li>\n<li>Respect for citizens\u2019 time: Reducing summoning means fewer people need to take time off work, arrange childcare, or travel to the courthouse.<\/li>\n<li>Cost savings for taxpayers: Automated summons generation, improved address verification, and reduced returned mail significantly lower printing and postage expenses.<\/li>\n<li>Improved efficiency: The system tracks responses in real time, allowing staff to quickly adjust and ensure the right number of jurors are available when needed.<\/li>\n<li>Better communication: Jurors benefit from clearer instructions and more streamlined interactions, helping reduce confusion and last-minute changes.<\/li>\n<li>Environmental impact: Fewer paper summons and less returned mail contribute to a more sustainable process and reduce court costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From start to finish, this full-service jury management system handles everything\u2014from generating and mailing summons to cleaning outdated addresses and tracking juror responses. The result is a smarter, more efficient system that works better for everyone.
