Early preparation not only protects lives and property but also helps our community recover faster. Here&#8217;s what you need to know about hurricane preparedness and the resources available to help you stay safe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be Informed and Stay Alert<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Collier County Emergency Management is the lead agency in storm preparation and response. Residents are encouraged to:<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Sign up for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colliercountyfl.gov\/government\/county-manager-operations\/divisions\/emergency-management\/alert-collier\"><strong>Alert Collier<\/strong><\/a>, the county\u2019s emergency notification system, to receive real-time updates via phone, text, or email<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Download the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colliersheriff.org\/community-resources\/collier-cares\"><strong>Collier Cares a<\/strong><strong>pp<\/strong><\/a>, which provides official emergency information and community resources.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Follow trusted sources on social media, including Collier County Emergency Management and local law enforcement, for updates before, during, and after a storm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Create an Emergency Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Start by identifying your evacuation zone and nearest shelter. Collier County\u2019s website offers a GIS-based tool to help you determine if you live in an evacuation zone. Discuss evacuation plans with your family, including pet accommodations and communication methods.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0For those with medical conditions or disabilities, the Special Needs Shelter Program provides a safe environment during storms.
