{"id":16652,"date":"2024-08-01T13:07:30","date_gmt":"2024-08-01T17:07:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/collierclerk.com\/?p=16652"},"modified":"2026-01-20T12:59:33","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T17:59:33","slug":"collier-county-property-owners-will-receive-trim-notices-in-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/app.collierclerk.com\/collierclerkcom\/collier-county-property-owners-will-receive-trim-notices-in-august\/","title":{"rendered":"Collier County Property Owners will Receive TRIM Notices in August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-16653 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/collierclerk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Trim-Notices-via-Vickie-Downs-JPG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/app.collierclerk.com\/collierclerkcom\/wp-content\/uploads\/Trim-Notices-via-Vickie-Downs-JPG.jpg 300w, https:\/\/app.collierclerk.com\/collierclerkcom\/wp-content\/uploads\/Trim-Notices-via-Vickie-Downs-JPG-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/app.collierclerk.com\/collierclerkcom\/wp-content\/uploads\/Trim-Notices-via-Vickie-Downs-JPG-120x150.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>Chief Deputy Property Appraiser Vickie Downs sent out a notice to the public informing property owners that\u00a0the\u00a0TRuth\u00a0In\u00a0Millage (TRIM)\u00a0property tax notices will be\u00a0mailed out to all property owners\u00a0on or\u00a0about August\u00a019,\u00a02024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>TRIM\u00a0notices are\u00a0an\u00a0important part\u00a0of the\u00a0property\u00a0tax\u00a0process,\u00a0providing you with\u00a0the following\u00a0key information:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assessed\u00a0Value: \u00a0The value\u00a0of your property\u00a0as\u00a0determined by\u00a0the\u00a0Property\u00a0Appraiser&#8217;s office.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Exemptions:\u00a0 Any applicable exemptions that\u00a0reduce\u00a0your property&#8217;s\u00a0taxable\u00a0value.<\/li>\n<li>Millage\u00a0Rates:\u00a0The\u00a0rates\u00a0set\u00a0by\u00a0various taxing\u00a0authorities\u00a0that\u00a0apply\u00a0to your property.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Estimated\u00a0Taxes:\u00a0 A\u00a0calculation of\u00a0your potential\u00a0property tax\u00a0based on the above\u00a0factors.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These notices\u00a0are\u00a0crucial for ensuring\u00a0transparency and\u00a0understanding of your property\u00a0taxes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chief Deputy Vickie\u00a0Downs encourages the community\u00a0to\u00a0review\u00a0your\u00a0notice carefully upon receipt.\u00a0 Should\u00a0you have any questions or need\u00a0further\u00a0clarification, the Collier\u00a0County Property\u00a0Appraiser\u2019s Office will provide assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Please\u00a0note\u00a0that\u00a0this\u00a0notice\u00a0<strong><u>is not a bill\u00a0but an\u00a0estimate<\/u><\/strong> of what\u00a0your property taxes\u00a0could be,\u00a0based\u00a0on the millage\u00a0rates currently proposed by the governing bodies.<\/p>\n<p>Once you receive your property\u2019s assessed market value from a TRIM notice, you may submit a protest to the County\u2019s Value Adjustment Board (VAB) if you disagree with the initial appraisal.<\/p>\n<p>The Collier County\u2019s VAB is administered by the Collier County Clerk and Comptroller\u2019s Office, independent of the Property Appraiser\u2019s Office. The Board is made up of five individuals: two from the county\u2019s board of commissioners, one from the county\u2019s school board, one homestead citizen member, and one business citizen member. The VAB is required to contract Special Magistrates, based on population size, to hear the various types of petition appeals including Exemption\/Classifications, Tangible Personal Property, Residential Property Tax Appeals, and Commercial Property Tax Appeals.<\/p>\n<p>VAB Forms, policies, and procedures can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/collierclerk.com\/board-records-vab\/value-adjustment-board\">collierclerk.com\/board-records-vab\/value-adjustment-board<\/a>.
