Executive Summary
Recommendation to reassign the category of Bruce Hamels from an at-large seat to the District 5 seat on the County
Government Productivity Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To reassign Bruce Hamels from the at-large seat to the District 5 seat on the County Government
Productivity Committee, moving his term expiration from March 9, 2028 to March 9, 2027.
CONSIDERATIONS: This committee reviews the efficiency of departments and divisions of county government under
the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners, in order to assure taxpayers that tax dollars are being used
appropriately and that waste of tax dollars is avoided. The committee annually reports its findings and recommendations
to the BCC. The committee is composed of eleven members: one member from each of the Commission Districts, and
six members at-large. Candidates for the District seats must be nominated by the Commissioner of the District in which
they reside; at-large candidates may be nominated by any Commissioner. Initial terms of office of district members were
for two years; initial terms of office for members at-large were for one year. Thereafter, all terms are two years. A list of
the current membership is included in the backup.
There are three vacant seats on this board. One for a District 5 representative and two at-large seats. The County
Commissioners have expressed a desire to move Bruce Hamels from the category of at-large and move him to the open
District 5 seat, to which he is amenable. This will move up the expiration of Mr. Hamels term from March 9, 2028, to
March 9, 2027.
