OBJECTIVE: To appoint Lindsey Touchette to the Collier County Citizen Corps, representing the Collier Community Foundation. CONSIDERATIONS: This 9 member committee was established by Ordinance No. 02-56, as amended, to advise the Board of County Commissioners on all hazards preparedness and other related issues; to act as a coordinating agency for activities that support an all hazards approach to threats and hazards that pose the greatest risk to Collier County; to assist in the recruitment of volunteers by publicizing and expanding existing community programs; to assist in achieving and maintaining accreditation through the Emergency Management Accreditation Program; to facilitate communication between Collier County & State & Federal agencies on all hazards activities, as well as to enable Collier County to identify outside resources such as grants, training opportunities and equipment. The committee members represent various community organizations. Each member shall be considered a liaison between their respective organization and the committee and shall be recommended by their organization to the Board of County Commissioners for consideration for appointment to the committee for a four-year term. A list of the current membership is included in the backup. There is currently one vacant seat on this committee. Eileen Connolly-Keesler, as the President and CEO of the Collier Community Foundation, has recommended Ms. Touchette to serve as the Foundation liaison to this committee. Ms. Touchette is the Vice President of Community Engagement for the Collier Community Foundation, which funds the operation of DRCC. Since the contractual expiration of DRCC's only employee, Ms. Touchette has stepped in to ensure DRCC continues to function, bringing continuity and stewardship to all participating NGOS in Collier County. DRCC and the Collier Community Foundation are key partners in Collier County, serving in blue skies and grey. DRCC plays an important role in bringing collaboration, cooperation, communication, and coordination of participating NGOs before, during and after disasters. DRCC works hand in hand with the EOC to ensure immediate needs are met, long-term needs are met with case workers, and recovery is as fast and efficient as possible. Partnership between DRCC and Citizen Corp has also provided networking and opportunities between the DRCC and Citizen Corp members.
