If a final deterrnination is made that this dog is a "dangerous dog" you will be required by law to
immediatelv take several actions with regard to this dog. These obligations include registering
this dog as a "dangerous dog" with CCAC and are specified in Collier County Chapter 14, Article
II, Section 14-38 and/or Chapter 767 Florida Statutes. Additional obligations are specified in
Chapter 14 of the Collier County Code of Laws and Ordinances.
If your dog is impounded throughout this process, you will be required to pay for all costs incurred
fbr the care of the dog. You must pay all costs in full before your dog will be released to you.
Please note CCAC rvill not hold your dog indefinitely. Failure to comply with all requirements of
this letter, F'lorida Law, and County ordinance will ultimately result in your forfeiture of ownership

767.11 Deflnltlons.-As used in this part, untess the context ctearty requires otherwise:
(1) "Animat controt authority" means an entity acting alone or in concert with other [oca[ governmentat units
and authorized by them to enforce the animal control laws of the city, county, or state. In those areas not served
by an animal control authority, the sheriff shalt carry out the duties of the anima[ controt authority under this part.
(2) "Animal controt officer" means any individual emptoyed, contracted with, or appointed by the animat
control authority for the purpose of aiding in the enforcement of this part or any other taw or ordinance retating to
the ticensure of animats, control of animats, or seizure and impoundment of animats and includes any state or tocat
law enforcement officer or other emptoyee whose duties in whote or in part inctude assignments that involve the
seizure and impoundment of an animat.
(3) "Dangerous dog" means a dog that according to the records of the appropriate authority:
(a) Has aggressivety bitten, attacked, or endangered or has infticted severe injury on a human being on pubtic
or private property;
(b) Has more than once severety injured or kitted a domestic animat white off the owner's property; or
(c) Has, when unprovoked, chased or approached a person upon the streets, sidewatks, or any pubtic grounds in
a menacing fashion or apparent attitude of attack, provided that such actions are attested to in a sworn statement
by one or more persons and dutifutty investigated by the appropriate authority.
(4) "Owner" means a person, a firm, a corporation, or an organization possessing, harboring, keeping, or having
controt or custody of an animal or; if the animat is owned by a person under the age of 18, that person's parent or
guardian.
(5) "Proper enctosure" means, white on the owner's property, a dog is securety confined indoors or in a securety
enctosed and tocked pen or structure, suitable to prevent the entry of young chitdren and designed to prevent the
dog from escaping. The pen or structure must have secure sides and a secure top to prevent the dog from escaping
over, under, or through the structure and must atso provide protection from the etements.(6) "Severe injury" means any physicat injury that results in broken bones, muttipte bites, or disfiguring
tacerations requiring sutures or reconstructive surgery.
l7l "Unprovoked" means that the victim who has been conducting himsetf or hersetf peacefutty and tawfulty has
been bitten or chased in a menacing fashion or attacked by a dog.

767.12 Classification of dogs as dangeroui; owner regulrements; penalty.-
(1) An animat control authority shatl investigate reported incidents invotving any dog that may be dangerous
and, if possibte, shall interview the owner and require a sworn affidavit from any person, inctuding any anima[
control officer or enforcement office[ desiring to have a dog ctassified as dangerous.
(a) An animal that is the subject of a dangerous dog investigation and that has kitted a human being or has
bitten a human being and teft a bite mark that scores 5 or higher on the Dunbar bite scale must be immediately
confiscated by an animat control authority; placed in quarantine, if necessary, tor the proper tength of time;
impounded; and hetd. The animal must be held pending the outcome of the investigation and any hearings or
appeats retated to the dangerous dog ctassification or any penatty imposed under this section. lf the dog is to be
destroyed, the dog may not be destroyed white an appeat is pending. The owner is responsibte for payment of att
boarding costs and other fees as may be required to humanety and safety keep the animat pending any hearing or
appeat.
(b) An animat that is the subject of any other dangerous dog investigation may be immediately confiscated by
an animal control authority; ptaced in quarantine, if necessary for the proper length of time; impounded; and
hetd. An animat that is not impounded with the animat controt authority must be confined by the owner in a proper
enctosure pending the outcome of the investigation and the resotution of any hearings or appeals retated to the
dangerous dog ctassification or any penatty imposed under this section. The owner shatl provide the address at
which the animat resides to the animat control authority. A dog that is the subject of a dangerous dog investigation
may not be retocated or have its ownership transferred pending the outcome of the investigation and any hearings
or appeats retated to the dangerous dog ctassification or any penatty imposed under this section. lf a dog is to be
destroyed, the dog may not be retocated or have its ownership transferred.
(2) A dog may not be dectared dangerous if any of the fottowing appty:
(a) The threat, injury or damage was sustained by a person who, at the time, was untaMutty on the prop€rty
or who, white tawfutty on the property, was tormenting, abusing, or assautting the dog or its owner or a family
member.
(b) The dog was protecting or defending a human being within the immediate vicinity of the dog from an
unjustified attack or assautt.
(3) After the investigation, the animal control authority shatt make an initiat determination as to whether there
is sufficient cause to ctassify the dog as dangerous and, if sufficient cause is found, as to the appropriate penatty.
The anima[ controt authority shaLt afford the owner an opportunity for a hearing before making a finat
determination regarding the classification or penatty. The animat control authority shatt provide written
notification of the sufficient cause finding and proposed penatty to the owner by registered mait or certified hand
detivery or seMce in conformance with the provisions of chapter 48 relating to service of process. The owner mayfite a written request for a hearing regarding the dangerous dog ctassification, penatty, or both, within 7 calendar
days after receipt of the notification of the sufficient cause finding and proposed penatty. lf the owner reguests ahearing, the hearing must be hetd as soon as possibte, but not tater than 21 catendar days and not sconer than 5days after receipt of the request from the owner. lf a hearing is not timely requested regarding the dangerous dog

ctassification or proposed penalty, the determination of the animat controt authority as to such matter is final. Each
appticabte tocat goveming authority shatt establish hearing procedures that conform to this subsection.
(4) Upon a dangerous dog ctassification and penatty becoming final after a hearing or by operation of taw
pursuant to subsection (3), the animat controt authority shalt provide a written finat order to the owner by
registered mait or certified hand detivery or service in conformance with the provisions of chapter 48 retating to
service of process. The owner may appeat the ctassification or penalty, or both, to the circuit court in accordance
with the Ftorida Rutes of Appettate Procedure after receipt of the fina[ order. lf the dog is not hetd by the animat
controt authority, the owner must coflfine the dog in a proper enctosure pending resotution of the appeat. Each
appticabte [ocat governing authority must estabtish appeal procedures that conform to this subsection.
(5Xa) Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b), the owner of a dog ctassified as a dangerous dog shatt do
att of the fottowing:
1. Upon issuance of the final order ctassifying the dog as dangerous or the conclusion of any appeat that affirms
such final order, obtain a certificate of registration for the dog from the animat controt authority seMng the area
in which he or she resides, and renew the certificate annuatty. Animat control authorities may issue such
certificates of registration, and renewats thereof, only to persons who are at least 18 years of age and wtro present
to the animat controt authority sufficient evidence of atl of the fottowing:
a. A current certificate of rabies vaccination for the dog.
b. A proper enctosure to confine the dangerous dog and the posting of the premises with a ctearty visibte
warning sign at att entry points which informs both children and adutts of the presence of a dangerous dog on the
property.
c. Permanent identification of the dog by imptantation of a microchip. Any person who knowingty and wittfutty
removes a microchip imptanted pursuant to this sub-subparagraph commits a fetony of the third degree, punishable
as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
d. The dog having been spayed or neutered.
e. Liabitity insurance as required by subparagraph 2.
The appropriate govemmental unit may impose an annual fee for the issuance of certificates of registration
required by this section.
Z. Upon issuance of the finat order ctassifying the dog as dangerous or the conctusion of any appeat that affirms
such final order, obtain tiabitity insurance coverage in an amount of at teast 5100,000 to cover damages resulting
from an attack by the dangerous dog causing bodity injury to a person and provide proof of the required tiabitity
insurance coverage to the animal controt authority for the area in which the dog is kept.
3. lmmediatety notify the appropriate animat control authority when the dog:
a. ls [oose or unconfined;
b. Has bitten a human being or attacked another animal;
c. ls sotd, given away, or dies; or
d. ls moved to another address.
4. Before setling or giving away the dangerous dog, provide the name, address, and telephone number of the
new owner to the animat controt authority.
a. The new owner must compty Mth this section and any implementing locat ordinances, even if the animat is
moved from one local jurisdiction to another within this state, and must notify the animal control authority that
the dog is in the authority's jurisdiction.
b. lf a dangerous dog has kitted a human being or has bitten a human being and teft a bite mark that scores 5 or
higher on the Dunbar bite scate and is surrendered to an animal control authority, the authority must humanety
euthanize the dog.
c. For any other dangerous dog that is surrendered to an animal controt authority, the authority may humanety
euthanize the dog. lf the animal control authority etects to ptace the animal for adoption, it must post signage on
the dog's enctosure to inform potentiat adopters that the dog has been declared dangerous and inform any adopter
of the dog owner's requirements under this section. The animat control authority must provide a person who adopts

a dangerous dog with a copy of the dectaration and must require them to sign a contract with the authority
agreeing to abide by the requirements of the dectaration.
5. Not attow the dog to be outside a proper enclosure untess the dog is muzzted and restrained by a substantial
chain or teash and under control of a competent person. The muzzle must be made in a manner that witl, not cause
injury to the dog or interfere with its vision or respiration but witt prevent it from biting a person or an anima[. The
owner may exercise the dog on the owner's property in a proper enclosure without a muzzte or [eash if the dog
remains within the owner's sight and onty members of the immediate househotd or persons 18 years of age or otder,
if appticabte, are atlowed in the enclosure when the dog is present. When being transported, such dogs must be
safety and securety restrained within a vehicte.
(b) lf a dog is ctassified as a dangerous dog due to an incident that causes severe injury to a human being,
based upon the nature and circumstances of the injury and the tiketihood of a future threat to the pubtic safety,
health, and wetfare, the dog may be destroyed in an expeditious and humane manner.
(6) Hunting dogs are exempt from this section when engaged in any legat hunt or training procedure. Dogs
engaged in training or exhibiting in legat sports such as obedience triats, conformation shows, field trials,
hunting/retrieving trials, and herding trials are exempt from this section when engaged in any [ega[ procedures.
However, such dogs at atl other times in att other respects are subject to this and locat [aws. Dogs that have been
ctassified as dangerous may not be used for hunting purposes.
(7) A person who viotates this section commits a noncriminal infraction, punishabte by a fine not to exceed
S1 ,000 per viotation. ln addition, any person who resists or obstructs an animat controt authority in enforcing this
section commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishabte as provided in s. 75.082 or s. 775.083.

Sec. 14-38. - Dangerous Dogs; Procedures
Dangerous Dog Procedu re.
A. All definitions as set forth in F.S. ch. 767 shall be incorporated herein. The provisions of F.S.
ch.767, as may be amended, pertainint to dangerous dogs are adopted in their entirety as
part of this Section. All procedures, regulations, requirements, and restrictions, pertaining to
dangerous dogs are applicable under this article, and a violation of state law shall constitute a
violation of this ordinance. To the extent that any provision in this ordinance conflicts with
F.S. ch.767, the statute shall control.
B. The County Manager or designee shall investigate reported incidents involving any dog that
may be dangerous and shall, if possible, interview the owner and require a sworn affidavit
from any person, including any animal control officer or enforcement officer, desiring to have
a dog classified as dangerous. Any animal that is the subject of a dangerous dog investigation,
and is not impounded with animal services, shall be humanely and safely confined by the
owner in a securely fenced or enclosed area pending the outcome of the investigation and
resolution of any hearings related to the dangerous dog classification. The address of where
the animal resides shall be provided to animal services. No dog that is the subject of a
dangerous dog investigation may be relocated or ownership transferred pending the outcome
of an investigation or any hearings related to the determination of a dangerous dog
classification. ln the event that a dog is to be destroyed, the dog shall not be relocated or
ownership transferred.
C. Animal services may impound any dog under investigation if the owner is unable or unwilling
to securely confine the dog during the investigation. Upon written notice from animal
services, the owner must allow access to the dog for the purposes of impoundment. lf the dog
is impounded during this time, the owner is responsible for all costs related to impoundment
unless the owner ultimately prevails and the dog is not declared dangerous.
D' Adog shall not be declared dangerous if the threat, injury, or da mage was sustained by a
person who, at the time, was unlawfully on the property or, while lawfully on the property,
was tormenting, abusing, or assaulting the dog or its owner or a family member. No dog may
be declared dangerous if the dot was protecting or defending a human being within the
immediate vicinity of the dog from an unjustified attack or assault.
E. lf the county Manager or designee makes an initial determination that a dog is dangerous,
based on the initial investigation, rhe county shall provide written norification ofthat
determination to the owner of the dog. Notice shall be by certified mail, by certified hand
delivery, by service pursuant to F.5. ch.48, or as otherwise authorized by Florida Statute. The
County Manager's or designee's initial determination shall automatically become final unless
the dog's owner, within seven calendar days after receipt of the notice, files a written request

for a hearing to challenge the County Manager's or designee's initial determination. The written request
must be submitted to animal services. lf the dog's owner files a timely written request for a challenge
hearing, the effective date of the determination shall be the date of the final decision of the Special
Magistrate.
F. Any owner of a dog that is initially declared dangerous by the County Manager or designee
may appeal that decision to the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate. This hearing shall be
held as soon as possible, but not more than 21 calendar days and no sooner than 5 days after
receipt of request from the owner. The hearin t may only be continued by agreement of both
parties.
G. lf the Special Magistrate's determination is to uphold the dangerous dog classification, animal
services shall provide written notification to the owner as required above. The dog owner may
file a written request for a hearing in circuit court to appeal the classification within ten (10)
business days after receiving notice. This request for hearing must be filed with the circuit
court, and a copy provided to animal services within the time provided. Any such appeal shall
not be a hearing de novo, but shall be limited to appellate review of the record created before
the Special Magistrate.
2. Registration of dangerous dog and fees.
A. Registration of dangerous dog. Not later than 14 calendar days after the final effective date,
as specified above, that the dog is determined to be a dangerous dog, the dog's owner must
file a complete written standard form application with animal services to be issued a
certificate of registration for the dangerous dog. The application/administration fee for each
certificate shall be established by Resolution of the Board of Commissioners. A complete
application for the initial certificate of registration shall include: (i) the filing fee and late fees,
if any; (ii) a color photograph of dog and a signed acknowledgement form that the dog will be
identified by name and address on the Collier County Animal Services website; (iii) a receipt or
other written proof that the dog has been permanently identified (via microchip); (iv) a current
certificate of vaccination, against rabies for the dog; and (v) a receipt or other written proof
that the dog has been spayed or neutered by a licensed veterinarian. lf there is a medical or
other reason that the dog cannot be spayed or neutered, the owner will provide the reason in
writing signed by a Collier County licensed veterinarian.
B. Within ten ('10) days of receipt of a complete application, animal services will make a site visit
to ensure provision of a proper enclosure, and posting of the premises with a clearly visible
warning sign at all entry points that informs both children and adults of the presence of a
dangerous dog on the property. Animal services will provide wvo (2) of the required signs.
Upon completion of a successful site visit, animal services will issue the requested initial

certificate. The duration of each certificate is 365 days. There shall be a late fee for each day that the
certificate is not issued, and such late fee shall be determined by a Resolution of the Board of County
Commissioners.
C. Annual renewal of certificate of registration. A standard renewal application must be filed
annually at least ten (10) calendar days prior to the date that the respective certificate is to
expire. A complete application for a renewal certificate shall include the
renewal/administrative fee, a current color photograph of each dangerous dog sign posted at
the premises where the dangerous dog resides, and a current certificate of rabies vaccination
D. Failure to re-register. There shall be a late fee for each day that a complete renewal
application is not filed, and such late fee shall be determined by Resolution of the Board of
County Commissioners. Animal services may impound any dog whose owner has: (i)failed to
re-apply for registration 30 days past the expiration of the certification; or (ii) failed to
successfully complete re-registration 45 days past the expiration of the certification. Upon
written notice from animal seruices, the owner must allow access to the dog for the purposes
of impoundment. The owner is responsible for all costs related to impoundment. Failure to
successfully re-register the dog after 30 days of impoundment will result in forfeiture of
ownership of the dog. Animal services may dispose of such an impounded dog, in a humane
manner, at the expense of the owner.
3. Subsequent handling ofdangerous dogs.
A. The owner shall immediately notiry animal services when a dog that has been classified as
dangerous:
(1) ls loose or unconfined;
(2) Has bitten a human being or attacked another animal;
(3) ls sold, given away, or dies; and/or
(4) ts moved to another address.
Prior to a dangerous dog being sold or given away, the owner shall provide the name,
address, and telephone number of the new owner to animal services. The new owner must
comply with all the requirements of this Ordinance. The owner is required to notiry rhe
appropriate animal services authority if the dog is moved out of jurisdiction.
B. lt is unlawful for the owner of a dangerous dog to permit the dog to be outside a proper
enclosure unless the dog is muzzled and restrained by a suitable leash of dependable
strength and under the control of a competent person. Unless prohibited by the dog,s
physical make-up, as in brachycephalic breeds, the muzzle must be of a cage-style that will
not interfere with the dog's vision, will allow the dog to pant and drink, but will prevent it from
biting a person or animal. Brachycephalic breeds of dogs must wear a suitable type of muzzle
if a cage-style cannot be worn. The owner may exercise the dog in a securely fenced or

enclosed area that does not have a top, without a muzzle or a leash, if the dog remains within his or her
sight and only members of the immediate household or person '18 years of age or older are allowed in the
enclosure when the dog is present. When being transported, such dogs must be safely and securely
restrained within a vehicle.
C. Hunting dogs are exempt from the provisions of this act when engaged in any legal hunt or
training procedure. Dogs engaged in training or exhibiting in legal sports such as obedience
trials, conformation shows, field trials, hunting/retrieving trials, and herding trials are exempt
from the provisions of this section when engaged in any legal procedures. However, such
dogs at all other times in all other respects shall be subject to this and local laws. Dogs that
have been classified as dangerous shall not be used for hunting purposes.
D. This section does not apply to dogs used by law enforcement officials for law enforcement
work.
E. A person who violates any provision of this section commits a noncriminal infraction,
punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
4. Attack or bite by dangerous dog.
A. lf a dog that has previously been declared dangerous attacks or bites a person or a domestic
animal without provocation, the owner is guilty of a misdemeanor of the first degree,
punishable as provided in F.5. ch.775.ln addition, the dangerous dog shall be immediately
confiscated by animal services, placed in quarantine, if necessary, for the proper length of
time, or impounded and held for ten (10) business days after the owner is given written notice
under F.S. ch. 767.12, and thereafter destroyed in an expeditious and humane manner. This
ten-day time period shall allow the owner to request a hearing as outlined above in this
section. The owner shall be responsible for payment of all boarding costs and other fees as
may be required to humanely and safely keep the animal during any appeal procedure.
B. lf a dog that has previously been declared dangerous attacks and causes severe injury to or
death of any human, the owner is guilty of a felony of the third degree, punishable as
provided in F.S. ch.775.ln addition, the dog shall be immediately confiscated by animal
services, placed in quarantine, if necessary, for the proper length of time or held for ten
business days after the owner is given proper written notification under F.S. ch. 767, and
thereafter destroyed in an expeditious and humane manner. This ten-day time period shall
allow the owner to request a hearing under this section. The owner shall be responsible for
payment of all boarding costs and other fees as may be required to humanely and safely keep
the animal during any appeal procedure.
C. lf the owner files a written appeal under this section, the dog must be held and may not be
destroyed while the appeal is pending.

lf a dog attacks or bites a person who is engaged in or attempting to engage in a criminal activity at the time
of the attack, the owner is not guilty of any crime specified under this section.
5. Attack or bite by unclassified dog that causes severe injury or death.
A. lf a dog that has not been declared dangerous attacks and causes the death of a human, the
dog shall be immediately confiscated by animal services, placed in quarantine, if necessary,
for the proper length of time or held for 10 business days after the owner is given written
notification under F.S. ch. 767, and thereafter destroyed in an expeditious and humane
manner. This 10-day period shall allow the owner to request a hearing under this section, the
dog must be held and may not be destroyed while the appeal is pending. The owner is
responsible for payment of all boarding costs and other fees as may be required to humanely
and safely keep the animal during any appeal procedure.
B. lf a dog that has not been declared dangerous attacks and causes severe injury to, or the
death of, a human, and the owner of the dog had knowledge of the dog's dangerous
propensities, yet demonstrated a reckless disregard for such propensities under the
circumstances the owner of the dog commits a misdemeanor of the second degree,
punishable as provided in F.S. ch.767.
C. lf the dog attacks or bites a person who is engaged in or attempting to engage in a criminal
activity at the time of the attack, the owner of the dog is not guilty of any crime under this
section.
6. Violations.
A. Failure to comply with any provision of this Section may result in a fine not to exceed $500.00
and impoundment of the subject dog. Upon written notice from animal services, the owner
must allow access to the dog for the purposes of impoundment. The owner is responsible for
all costs related to impoundment.
B. Failure to cure any violation of this Section within 30 days of impoundment of the subject dog
will result in forfeiture of ownership of the dog. Animal services may dispose of such an
impounded dog, in a humane manner at the expense of the owner.
C' Upon second occurrence of a violation of this Section, failure to cure within ten (10) days of
impoundment of the subject dog will result in forfeiture of ownership of the dog. Animal
services may dispose of such an impounded dog, in a humane manner at the expense of the
owner.
D' Each day the owner of a dangerous dog fails to comply with the requirements of this Section
or the requirements of F.S. 9767.12, as may be amended, shall constitute a separate and
distinct offense.

C. Annual renewal of certificate of registration. A standard renewal application must be filed annually at
least ten (10) calendar days prior to the date that the respective certificate is to expire. A complete
application for a renewal certificate shall include the renewal/administrative fee, a current color
photograph of each dangerous dog sign posted at the premises where the dangerous dog resides, and a
current certificate of rabies vaccination.

Sec. 14-33, - County Rabies/License certificate; tags, vaccination required
2. Any owner of a dog, cat, or ferret shall have such animal vaccinated annually for rabies when
the animal is four months old or older. The owner of every dog, cat, and ferret shall have the
animal revaccinated 12 months after the initial vaccination. Thereaftet the interval between
vaccinations shall conform to the vaccine manufacturer's directions. Every owner shall provide
proof of vaccination upon demand of the health officer or his designee or any other person
authorized to enforce this Ordinance. Animal services may deny issuance of a County
rabies/license tag to any animal without a current rabies vaccination. No vaccination is required
if a licensed veterinarian certifies in writing that the vaccination would endanger the animal's
health.

C. Annual renewal of certificate of registratjon. A standard renewal application must be filed annually at
least ten (10) calendar days prior to the date that the respective certificate is to expire. A complete
application for a renewal certificate shall include the renewal/administrative fee, a current color
photograph of each dangerous dog sign posted at the premises where the dangerous dog resides, and a
current certificate of rabies vaccination.

Sec. 14-33, - County Rabies/License certificate; tags, vaccination required
2. Any owner of a dog, cat, or ferret shall have such animal vaccinated annually for rabies when
the animal is four months old or older. The owner of every dog, cat, and ferret shall have the
animal revaccinated 12 months after the initialvaccination. Thereafter, the interval between
vaccinations shall conform to the vaccine manufacturer's directions. Every owner shall provide
proof of vaccination upon demand of the health officer or his designee or any other person
authorized to enforce this Ordinance. Animal services may deny issuance of a County
rabies/license tag to any animal without a current rabies vaccination. No vaccination is required
if a licensed veterinarian certifies in writing that the vaccination would endanger the animal's
health.

C. Annual renewal of certificate of registration. A standard renewal application must be filed annually at
Ieast ten {10) calendar days prior to the date that the respective certificate is to expire. A complete
application for a renewal certificate shall include the renewal/administrative fee, a current color
photograph of each dangerous dog sign posted at the premises where the dangerous dog resides, and a
current certificate of rabies vaccination.

Sec. 14-33. - County Rabies/License certificate; taEs, vaccination required
2. Any owner of a dog, cat, or ferret shall have such animal vaccinated annually for rabies when
the animal is four months old or older. The owner of every dog, cat, and ferret shall have the
animal revaccinated 12 months after the initial vaccination. Thereafter, the interval between
vaccinations shall conform to the vaccine manufacturer's directions. Every owner shall provide
proof of vaccination upon demand of the health officer or his designee or any other person
authorized to enforce this Ordinance. Animal services may deny issuance of a County
rabies/license tag to any animal without a current rabies vaccination. No vaccination is required
if a licensed veterinarian certifies in writing that the vaccination would endanger the animal's
hea lth.

C. Annual renewal of certificate of registration. A standard renewal application must be filed annually at
least ten (10) calendar days prior to the date that the respective certificate is to expire. A complete
apptication for a renewal certificate shall include the renewal/administrative fee, a current color
photograph of each dangerous dog sign posted at the premises where the dangerous dog resides, and a
current certificate of rabies vaccination.

Sec, 14-33, - County Rabies/License certificate; tags, vaccination required
2. Any owner of a dog, cat, or ferret shall have such animal vaccinated annually for rabies when
the animal is four months old or older. The owner of every dog, cat, and ferret shall have the
animal revaccinated 12 months after the initial vaccination. Thereaftet the interval between
vaccinations shall conform to the vaccine manufacturer's directions. Every owner shall provide
proof of vaccination upon demand of the health officer or his designee or any other person
authorized to enforce this Ordinance. Animal services may deny issuance of a County
rabies/license tag to any animal without a current rabies vaccination. No vaccination is required
if a licensed veterinarian certifies in writing that the vaccination would endanger the animal's
health.
