DESIGNATION OF THE NAPLES AND IMMOKALEE
LANDFILL SITES AS POTENTIAL LOCATIONS FOR A
HAZARDOUS WASTE TRANSFER/STORAGE FACILITY.
WHEREAS, the Florida Water Quality Act of 1983, directed the Florida
Department of Environmental Regulation (FDER) to create guidelines for
county and regional hazardous waste assessments, and for the designation
of areas within the county in which a hazardous waste transfer/storage
facility may be located; and,
WHEREAS, on August 6, 1984. the Board of County Commissioners.
entered into a contract with the Southwest Florida Regional PIsnning
Council to jointly conduct a Hazardous Waste Assessment Program for
Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, Section 403.7225, Florida Statutes, requires that each
county conduct a public hearing, and designate area locations where a
hazardous waste transfer/storage facility could be located; and,
WHEREAS, the C~llier County Planning Agency, at a June 6, 1985
public hearing recommended to the Board of County Commissioners, the
designation of the Naples and Immokalee Landfill sites as potential area
locations for hazardous waste transfer/storage facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
that the Naples and Immokalee Landfill sites, as indicated on the
attached map, attached hereto and incorporated herein, are hereby
designated as potential area locations for
Hazardous Waste
Transfer/Storage facilities.
