WHEREAS. w.ter I14nagement permit process requires close coordination with
the South Florida Water Management District; and

WHEREAS. the South Florida wjter Management District Staff i. loc.ted in

the District Office in West P.lmfBeach, . distance of 150 mile.. which r..ults
in some difficulty for local property owners, developer.. consulting engineers
and County Water Management staff to interface with the District; and
WHEREAS, permanently locating a District Field Engineer in Collier County
would greatly reduce or eliminate I14ny of the difficulties of interfacing
that are currently occurrin8' and
WHEREAS. in Fiscal Year 1984/85, a total of $1,414,000 wa. leVied in
Collier County to support the activities of the South Florida Water Management
District and the Big Cypress Basin Board; and
WHEREAS, the estimated annual expense of $45.000 to $50.000 should be
considered . reasonable expenditure in light of the financial support provided
by the County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COUNTY. FLORIDA, that said Board is requesting that the South Florida
Water Management District give full consideration to establishing a full-time
D1atrict Field Engineer with appropriate qualifications in Collier County to
provide close and timely coordination of water management .ctivities in
Collier County.
