RESOLtJTIOH OPPOSING ANY PLAH TO REDISTRICl' COLLIER
COUNTY INTO A CONGRESSIOtfAL DISTRICl' WHICH DOES NOT
ALIGN PREDOMINANTLY WITH THOSE ADJACENT COUNTIES ON
THE WEST COAST OF FLORIDA.
WHEREAs, Collier County i. located on the Southwest Coast of
Florida; and

, WHEREAs, Collier County shares siailar qeoqraphy, community
needs and leqislative needs with tho.. other counties on Florida's
CUlf Cout; and
~: WHEREAs, if Collier County were placed into a congressional
,/ district aliqnec1 Predoainantly with Southeast Coast communities,
Collier COUnty would be a ...11 and totally disassociated segment
and percentaqe of those beinq represented within such a District;
and
WHEREAs, Collier Count! is a aucb different cOllJllUDity in the
urbanization Process with d stinct and separate needs from
Florida's Southeast Coast Coaaunities; and
WHEREAs, althouqh Collier County borders, qeoqraphically,
counties on the Southeast Florida Coast, the urbanized centers of
the rupective counties are actually separated by one hundred
aile. of undeveloped Federal Park lands.
HOW, THEREFORE, BB IT RESOLVED BY '1'HB BOARD OP COUNTY
COHKISSIOHERS OF COLLIER COUHTY, FLORIDA, that any attempt to
redistrict Collier County, Plorida into a congressional district
which aliqns predoainantly with Florida'. Southeast Coast is not
in the best interest of the re.idents of Collier county and is
very stronqly opPOsed by the BoareS of County COIUIis.ioners.
