A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE COLLIER COUNTY
CORRECTIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEE DEDICATING
ITS TIME AND RESOURCES TO INVESTIGATION AND
ANALYSIS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION
SYSTEMS PROCEDURES AND ALTERNATIVES; AND
PROVIDING FOR REPORTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
REGARDING SAID INFORMATION SYSTEMS TO BE
MADE BY THE COMMITTEE TO THE BOARD.
WHEREAS, Section 951.26, Florida statutes, provides that
each county shall have a County Correctional Planning
Committee; and
~~EREAS, Pursuant to Florida Statutes, Collier County has
a County Correctional Planning Committee which has been meeting
regularly and functioning to address correctional issues within
the County pursuant to law; and
iffiEREAS, Chapter 943, Florida statutes, creates the
Division of Criminal Justice Information Systems within the
Department of Law Enforcement and provides for the sharing of
criminal justice information with state and local agencies
pursuant to appropriate user agreements; and
lffiEREAS, the Collier County Correctional Planning
Committee desires to investigate and analyze criminal justice
information systems alternatives that may be of benefit to the
County in addressing correctional needs and thereby assist the
committee in assessing the population status of County-owned
correctional facilities and in planning for future construction
needs of local correctional facilities all in accordance with
Section 951.26 (2), Florida statutes; and
WHEREAS, Section 951.23 (2), Florida statutes, provides
that the Department of Corrections, in conjunction with the
administrators of county detention facilities, shall develop an
instrument for the collection of information regarding the
population status of each county detention facility and that
such information shall, whenever possible, be transmitted by
the county detention facility administrator to the Department
of Corrections electronically or in a computer-readable format;
and

WHEREAS, the Collier County Correctional Planning
Committee requests that the Collier County Board of County
Commissioners declare its approval for the Correctional
Pla~ning Committee to devote the time and resources of its
membership to investigating and analyzing criminal justice
information system procedures and alternatives that may benefit
the County in planning for correctional needs.

~0 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County

~ Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that:

~;:. Planning Committee dedicating its time and resources to .

~" systems procedures and alternatives that may be of benefit in
~.' addressing the correctional needs of the County. The Board

~, further resolves that the Correctional Planning Committee
