WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County
Florida has fire safety responsibilities for Collier County~ and
WHEREAS, Section 633.025, Florida-Statut6~,- requires counties
with fire safety responsibilities to adopt minimum fire safety
standards which shall operate in conjunction with the state minimum
building code~ and
WHEREAS, Collier County adopted Collier County Ordinance No.
86-54 adopting a Fire Prevention and Protection Code for Collier
County which met the statutory requirements under Section 633.025,
Florida Statutee~ and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to update the Collier County Fire
Prevention and Protection Code.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA that:

The Standards and Code sections of the "National Fire Codes", as
published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), listed

Violations of this Ordinance are to be administered
according to Collier County Ordinance No. 91-56, the
Collier County Building Construction Administrative Code.
CHAPTER I - ADMINISTRATION AND ENFORCEMENT
1-2.5 CODES AND STANDARDS ADOPTED
Amend Section 1-2.5.1 to read as follows:
Any reference within this code to standards and
codes contained in Annex A shall mean the standards and
codes adopted pursuant to the Collier County Fire
Prevention and Protection Code which are hereby
incorporated into this code.
Delete Section 1-2.5.2 in its entirety
Add 1-10 to read as follows:
1-10 COST OF PERMIT -' -
Refer to Collier County Resolution No. 91-642, a
resolution establishing fees.
CHAPTER 2 - DEFINITIONS
2-1 - DEFINITIONS
Amend the following definitions to read as follows:
Fire Marshal - The Collier County Manager or his
Designee or an independent fire district employee as may be
provided for by interlocal agreement.
Fire Official - Any authorized person serving as a
designated employee, representative, or agent of the Fire
Marshal or an independent fire district employee as may be
provided for by interlocal agreement.
Amend Section 2-1 by adding the following
definitions:
Owner - any person, agent, firm or corporation having
a legal or equitable interest in the property.
Interlocal Agreement - An agreement entered into
--between the Board of County Commissioners and the
Independent Fire District(s).

Str~ctures 1991 Edition is amended as follows:

SECTION 7-6 FIRE DETECTION, ALAR~ AND COM~/NICATION SYSTEMS
7-6.3 OCCUPANT NOTIFICATION
Amend sub section 7-6.3.6 to read as follows:
7-6.3.6 Audible alarm indicating devices shall be of such
character and so distributed as to be effectively heard
above the ambient noise level obtained under normal
.conditions of occupancy.
Residential Occupancies: Audible alarm indicating
devices shall be clearly audible in all bedrooms over
background noise levels with all inter~ning doors closed.
The audible alarm indicating device sounding shall measure a
minimum rating of 70 decibels in the approximate center of
bedrooms.
SECTION 7-7 AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS AND OTHER EXTINGUISHING
EQUIPMENT
7-7.4 MANUAL EXTINGUISHING EQUIPMENT
Amend sub section 7-7.4.1 to read as follows:

7-7.4.1 Portable fire extinguishers shall be installed in
all commercial and multi-family occupancy classifications in
accordance with the Standard for the Installation of
Portable Fire Extinguishers, NFPA 10.

Apply the Uniform Fire Safety Rules and Standards
pertaining to this type of occupancy, which are hereby
incorporated herein and shall be considered part of this
ordinance.

pertaining to this type of occupancy, which are hereby
incorporated herein and shall be considered part of this
ordinance.

ordinance.

SECTION FOUR: REPEAL OF COLLIER COUNTY ORDINANCE NO. 86-54.
Ordinance No. 86-54 is hereby repealed in its entirety as of
the effective date of this Ordinance.

SECTION FIVE: CONFLICT AND SEVERABILITY
In the event this Ordinance conflicts with any other Ordinance
of Collier County or other applicable law, the more restrictive shall
apply. If any phrase or portion of this Ordinance is held invalid or
unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction, such portion
shall be deemed a separate, distinct, and independent provision and
such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion.
SECTION SIX: EFFECTIVE DATE
This Ordinance shall become effective upon receipt of notice
from the Secretary of State that this Ordinance has been filed with
the Secretary of State.
