RESOLUTION NO. 80-33 CONCERNING. TAX NOTICES, EXTENSIONS AND COLLECTIONS
FOR TAXES I N THE Alt)UN"t OF:' LESS 'mAN.. FIVE l$5. 00..> DOLLARS - ADOPTED
Assistant County Attorney Tony Pires stated that under the Florida
Statutes, 197.072(5) "and 'Chapter 120-12.13 of the Florida Administrative
Code, the Board of County CGmnfssioners has the authority to grant the
following reconatndatiGns:n*de by the Tax Collector:
1. The Tax Collector is hereby instructed not to man notices to
any taxpayer when the amount of the tax due as shown on the
tax noUce 1s1.ss than Five Dollars ($5.00), beginning with
the taxes due for the year 1980.
2. The Property Appraiser is hereby instructed not to extend taxes
on any parell forwh1ch the tax dul will be less than Five
Dollars ($5.00), beginning with the taxes due for the year 1980.
Fiscal Officer Harold Hall asked .what kind of .on1es. would be involved in
such a transaction with Tax Collector ~rs replying it would be very little
IS it costs 1Gr. to ...11 out such notices than is recouped in their return.

WHEREAS, the TaXiCol1ector of Collier County has requested
and reconnnended that the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County instruct him to not mail tax notices to any
taxpayer when the amount of taxes due is less than $5.00,
and
WHEREAS, the.Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County has the authority to do same by virtue of ~197.072(3),
Florida Statutes and Chapter 12D-12.13, Florida Administrative
Code, and
WHEREAS, the..$a.xaollJictor feels that the costs involved
in the processina of such,trax bills far exceeds any revenue
