BCC Minutes 04/10/1998 S (Opposition to SB 30) SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COHMISSIONERS Naples, Florida, April 10, 1998 LET IT BE REMEMBERED, that the Board of County Commissioners, in and for the County of Collier, and also acting as the Board of Zoning Appeals and as the governing board(s) of such special districts as have been created according to law and having conducted business herein, met on this date at 11:30 a.m. in SPECIAL SESSION in Building "F" of the Government Complex, East Naples, Florida, with the following members present: CHAIRPERSON: Barbara B. Berry John C. Norris Timothy J. Constantine ABSENT: Timothy L. Hancock Pamela S. Hac'Kie ALSO PRESENT: Robert Fernandez, County Administrator David Weigel, County Attorney RESOLUTION 98-98 DECLARING OPPOSITION TO THE ENACTMENT OF SENATE BILL 30 AND REQUESTING THE VETO OF SAID BILL BY THE HONORABLE LAWTON CHILES, GOVERNOR - ADOPTED CHAIRPERSON BERRY: I'd like to call to order the special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, Friday, April 10th, regarding the consideration of adoption of resolution opposing the enactment of Senate Bill 30, also known as the Hessick Claims Bill. COHMISSIONER CONSTANTINE: Madam Chairman, motion to approve the item. COHMISSIONER NORRIS: Second. CHAIRPERSON BERRY: We've had a motion and a second to approve the item. Any questions regarding this item? If not, all in favor? Opposed? (No response.) CHAIRPERSON BERRY: Motion carries, three-zero. Mr. Weigel. MR. WEIGEL: Thank you, Commissioner. All Commissioners, let you know that we are prepared, upon the execution of the resolution. This will be known as resolution number 98-98. We have the number for it. Upon that execution, we'd also suggest that Commissioner Berry send a brief transmittal letter, which I have prepared -- it's very brief -- for transmittal to the governor. We'll be transmitting this by facsimile today with the original of the letter and -- COHMISSIONER CONSTANTINE: I'm sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear, but that was intended as part of my motion. MR. WEIGEL: Well, that's fine. Actually, I wasn't asking for a motion, but just to say that as a rather perfunctory transmittal we would look for a letter from the chairman to accompany this, which is very brief. It's to the governor. And the originals will be transmitted by Federal Express. The copy is by facsimile today. Thank you. CHAIRPERSON BERRY: Very good. Anything further? COHMISSIONER NORRIS: No. CHAIRPERSON BERRY: If not, motion -- meeting is adjourned. There being no further business for the good of the County, the meeting was adjourned by order of the Chair at 11:35 a.m..
