A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF COLLIER COUNTY. FLORIDA. AUTHORIZING TUr. COUNTY
ADMINISTRATOR TO APPLY FOR A IIIGHWAY
BEAUTIFICATION COUNCIL GRANT FROM TUr. FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATIO!'\ FOR PUASE "n" MEDIAN
AND ROADSIDE LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS ALONG S.R.
90 (U.S. 41. TAMIAMI TRAIL) FROM C.R. 31 (AIRPORT-
PULI.ING ROAD) TO C.R. 864 (RATTLESNAKE IIAMMOCK
ROAD); PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE TIIEREO~'.
WHEREAS. the median and roadside areas within the State of Florida Department
of Transportation, S.R. 90 (U.S. 41. Tanliami Trail) right.or.way between C.R. 31
(Airport.Pulling Road) OJnd C.R. 864 (RallTesnake Hammock Road) arC' capable of
receiving and sustaining landscape beautification improvements: and.
WHEREAS. on Augu51 3. I??? " Asend. Item 8(B)6. lhe Boord of County
Commissioner! approved a project sequence and timing pl.m for implementing landscape
beautification improvements ::l1ong S.R. 90 befween S.R. 84 (D.n'is Boulevard) and C.R.
864 in (wo (2) distinct and sCP:lriuC' ph.acs: Phase "A" is Ihc iniliOlI segment, between S.R.
84 and C.R. 31 ( approxim:!.tely 1.2 miles) 10 he consnuclcd wholly \\-'ith Collier County
funding; and Phase "B," which is contempl:ued for grant applic:Hion processes, being
designated as the second segment. between C.R. 31 and C.R. 8(.4 (approximately 1.7
miles); and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners ilnd the County Administrator
desire that Collier Counly commence conslruction of Phase "B" landscape beautification
improvements during Fiscal Year 2001. subsequent to closure of [he July 2000, grant
award cycle by the State of Florida Highway IJeautific3tion Council; and
WHEREAS. the Board of County Commissioners, hy adoption of this Resolution,
authorize the Counly Adminislrator to apply for:1 Highway Beaulification Grant for Phase
"B" tandscape improvements Ihrough lhe Florida Department of Tr;tnsportation.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY. FLORIDA. 'h.t:
J. The Board of County Commissioners of CoWer County, Florid., hereby
direct and authorize the County Administr3tor to prepare and submit the necessary grant
application and support documentation to lhe State of Florida Highway Be.u~ific.tion
Council for S.R. 90 Phase "a" landscape improvements in accord:1l1ce with procedures set
forth under Chapler 14-40. Florida Administrative Code.
2. The Clerk to the Board or County Commissioner is hereby directed to
forward a certified copy of this Resolution 10 the Florida Dcp:utment of Transportation
Bartow, Florida, as part of the High\\'ay Acautifie:l.tiun Council Grant application
submittal.
3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
