RESOLUTION NO. 96- 39B
RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A 45 MPH SPEED
LIMIT ZONE ON C.R. 31 (AIRPORT-PULLING
ROAD) BEGINNING AT C.R. 846 (IMMOKALEE
ROAD) TO A POINT 1,000 FEET SOUTH OF
PELICAN MARSH SCHOOL ENTRANCE.
WHEREAS, Section 316 Florida Statutes

limit reduction to 45 mph on C.R. 31 (Airport-Pulling Road) for
northbound/soutnbound traffic from C.R. 846 (Immokalee Road) to
1,000 feet south of Pelican Marsh School entrance.

NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County
Commissioners of Collier County, that:
1. Florida Statute 316 authorized the Board of county
Commissioners to set maximum and minimum speed limits for travel
on roadways under its authority as it deems safe and advisable.
2. The speed reduction from 55 mph to 45 mph will inform drivers
of the limits in which one can safely operate a vehicle under
normal circumstances and within which the driver can be expected
to react safely.
3. The reduced speed limit of 45 mph is influenced by many factors
including the volume, adjacent land use, school related
activities, etc.
4. The existing 55 mph speed limit would be greater than is
reasonable and prudent under roadway conditions.
5. Authorization is hereby given to the Transportation Department
to erect speed limit signs in accordance with this Resolution,
Section 316JFlorida StatutesJ and Collier County Ordinance No. 91-
25, applicable to establishment of the designated 45 mph zone.
