Resolution 1999-273 RESOLUTION NO. 99 -273 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE IMPOSITION AND COLLECTION OF A LOCAL OPTION FEE FOR PROVISION OF ENHANCED EMERGENCY "911" TELEPHONE SERVICE AND EQUIPMENT WHEREAS, Section 365 171(13), FIorida Statutes, provides that a county may impose a fee for charges for "911" serwce and equipment to be paid by local exchange subscribers on an mdw~d~¢al exchange bas~s at a rale not to exceed fifty cents (S.50) per monlh per access line; and WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, deems it appropriate and m furtherance of public health, safety and welfare to access a fee for the enhanced "91 t" telephone service availability in Coilier County NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: 1 Pursuant Io Section 365 171(13), FIorida Statutes, there is hereby imposed against local exchange subscribers a focal oplion fee for the provision of enhance "911" emergency telephone service and equipment in Collier County This fee shall be adjusted annually to cover allowable expenses as described in Section 365171(13(a)(6), Florida Statutes, For the period of September 30, 1999 through September 30. 2000, the fee will be $ ,31 cents persubscr~ber per access line per month 2 The County requests that the telephone company (exchange telephone serv,ce prowder) prowd~r~g enhanced "9'i '1" secwce and equipment to Collier County collect from its subscribers w~thm Colher County. the local option fee assessed by Ibis Resolution and remit those fees to Collier County 3 Said telephone company, pursuant to Section 365,171(13)(c), Florida Statutes, may retain as an administrative fee an amount of one percent (1%) of the total "911" fees actually collected by said telephone company 4 Money m reserve ~s being carried forward to provide for capital improvements described in Sechon 365171(13)(a)(3), Florida Statutes. Additional money from fiscal year 1998 revenues to be added to the total reserves shall not exceed ten percent (10%) of such fees billed for the 1998 fiscal year The cumulative reserves are to pay for projected expansion and replacement of E911 equipment and service features described in Section 365,171(a)(13)(6), Florida Statutes.
