A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE
LAKE TRAFFORD RESTORATION TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, the body of water known as Lake Trafford has become overwhelmed by the
phenomenon known as algae bloom, causing suffocation oflarge amounts of fish; and
WHEREAS, in order to protect and provide for the restoration of the fish population in
Lake Trafford, it will be nec:essazy to demuck and restore Lake Trafford;
WHEREAS, a task force is needed to identifY ways in which to adequately restore the lake as
well as determine the best funding sources available for the Lake Trafford restoration effort;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. The Lake Trsf!'ord Restoration Task Force is hereby created for a period of one (1) year
to determine the best method to remove and/or prevent an algae bloom and restore Lake Trsf!'ord
to its unpolluted condition, and to locate available funding sources to fund the restoration project.
2. The following members are hereby appointed to the Lake Trafford Restoration Task
Force:

Gail G. Gibson, Ph.D., P.G.
Gene Hearn
John M. Iglehart
Bettye 1. Matthews, Conunissioner
Frank Morello
Ann Olesky

Michael Simonik
Jackie Smith
Fred N. Thomas, Jr.
3. The task force shall prepare their written findings and recommendations and present them
to the Board of County Conunissioners within 1 year.
This Resolution adopted after motion, second and majority vote.
