RESOLUTION TO REDUCB l'HB SPEED LIMIT ON CR 864 (RATTLESNAKE

FOR THlI: DURATION OP CONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, Section 316.189. Florida Statutes and Collier County Ordinance No.
91.25 authorize the Board of County Commissioners to alter or to establish speed
limit. on roads under its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, CR 864 (Rattlesnake Hammock) is a County under the jurisdiction of
the Board of County Commissioners; nnd
WHEREAS, in accordance with
County Ordinance No. 91-25, a
(Rattlesnake Banrnock); and
Section 316.189, Plorida Statutes, and Collier
traffic analysis has been made for CR 864
WHEREAS, the traffic analysis indicates that a reduction in the speed limit
for that portion of CR 864 (Rattlesnake Hanmock) between US U (Tamiami Trail)
and Polly Avenue from forty-five miles per hour (45 HPH) to thirty-five miles per
hour (35 MPH) i. reasonable and in conformation with the four-)ane design of CR
864 (Rattlesnake HaTl'lTlOckl and criteria promulgated by the Florida Department of
Transportation and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation
Officials; and
MHEREAS, the review of the Maintenance of Traffic Plan for the construction
of the four-laning of CR 864 (Rattlesnake Hammock) between US 41 (Tamiami Trail)
and Polly Avenue indicates that a speed limit of twenty-five miles per hour (25
MPHI is reasonable and in conformation with criteria promulgated by the Plorida
Department of Transportation and the America Association of State Highway and
Transportation Officials for active work zones.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER OF COLLIER
COUNTY', FLORIDA, that:
A. The speed limit on CR 864 (Rattlesnake Hammock) between US 41 (Tamiami
Trail) and Polly Avenue shall be reduced from forty-five miles per hour
(45 MPH) and is hereby established at thirty-five miles per hour (35
HPH); and
B. Within the active work zones on CR 864 (Rattlesnake Hammock) between US
41 (Tamiamt Trail) and Polly Avenue, the speed limit shall be reduced
from thirty-five miles per hour (35 MPH) and is hereby established at
twenty-five miles per hour (25 MPH);
C. The speed reductions are effective from the date of passage of this
Resolution until the date upon which the Collier County Transportation
Services Department declares the existing, ongoing construction work on
the portion of CR 864 (Rattlesnake Hammock) between US 41 (Tamiami
Trail) and Polly Avenue substantially complete and adjusts the signege
accordingly.
Bli" IT ~PUR.THER RESOLVED that the Transportation Services Department i. hereby
authorhel1' land directed to erect speed limit signs in accordance with this
Resolution and' a copy of this Resolution shall be tendered to the Collier County
