A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA,
EXPRESSIlIG THE BvARD'S CONCERNS REGJlRDING
INCREASED VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON STATE ROAD 29
AND REQUESTIllG TH" FLORIDA DEPJlRTMENT OF

WHEREAS, southwest Flcl'ida is
area in tho state of Florida with a
vegetable prOduction; and
WHEREAS, this expansion has dramatically increased the
vehicular traffic transporting vegetables and citrus products
market via State Road 29 (S.R. 29) from the Immokalee area
Collier coun~y, Florida through Hendry and Glades counties~ and
WHEREAS, $.R. 29 is a two-lane paved highway that is tho major
roadway to transport citrus and vegetable products to northern
markets; and
WHEREAS, the traffic on S.R. 29 is increasing annually,
including a substantial increase in tractor trailer trips.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. S.H. 29 requires evaluation by the Florida Department
at Transportation to determine future road capacity
requirements relative to meeting increasing travel way
needs.
2. The Florida Department ot Transportation is hereby
requested to undertake a capacity study of the
S.R. 29 corridor for 1-75 to U.S. 27 for a future
live (5) year periOd, a future ten (10) year periOd,
a future twenty-tive (25) year period, and to
schedule such evaluation in the Five (5) Year Plan of
the Florida Department of Transportation.
This Resolution adopted after motion, second and roll call
voto as follows:
