RESOLUTION NO, 97-~
A RESOLUTION OF TlIll BOARD OF COUNTY COMIlISSIOm;RS OF
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF CITY OF
NAPLllS/THll NAPLES PLAYERS COMMUNITY THllATRB PROJllCT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida (hereinafter "Board") desireo to facilitate the
development and operation of cormmmity services and facilities
th.lt beneficially affect, educate and involve the residents and
pW)lic in Collier County; and
WHBRRAS, the Board desires to ~ecognize and endorse the City
of Naples and The Haples Players community theatre project being
developed in the heart of the City of Naples; and
WHBREAS, The Naples Players wag established in 1953 by local
residents, incorporated as a not. for-profit organization in 1956,
operates debt-free and consistently generates BOt of its
operating income from ticket sales, with the balance from
donations, dues and other sources.
Due to the I popularity and
quality of its programs, it is currently operating at attendance
capacity, and children and adults on waiting lists are often
turned away from its present theater facility; and
WHEREAS, the constrlction of the Dew community theater will
satisfy the unmet demand for expanded theater production, not to
mention establishing a seniors' and children'S on-site and
outreach theater program; and
WHBRxAS, the City of NapleS/The Naples Players coamunity
theatre project will help to sustain and enhance meaningful
progl'ams for the culturally diverse County residents, a8 well as
provide additional educational programs and opportunities for
Collier County school faculty and students.

COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that,
1. The Board recognizes the public benefits and hereby
endorses the City of Naples/The Naples Players community theatre
project being developed in the heart of the City of Naples.
2. The Board endorses The City of Naples/The Naples
Players pursuit of donations, grants and other non-local tax
related funds and civic volunteerism to achieve, construct and
operate this new community theatre which ahall benefit the
citizens of Collier County.
