A RESOLUTIOU OF TilE COLLIER COUNTY BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS REQUESTIHG TilE TRANSFER
OF TilE MARCO ISLM1D !l.IRPORT FROM TIlE
DEP!l.RTI1Eln OF HATURAL RESOURCES TO COLLIER
COUNTY fOR SOUTlIVlEST fLORIDA TRANSPORTATION
NEEDS.
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County cor.,missioners is
vitally concerned with the importance of the Marco Island Airport
in ser.vicing transportation needs in Collier County and southwest
Floridil.
\~HEREAS, the Department of llZlturZll Resources is currently
considering advertising for proposals to operate and maintain the
Marco Isl,nd Airpor~: ilnd
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest
Southwest Florida that the airport
transportation system; and
of Collier County
remain part of
and
t.he
WHEREAS, ColI ier County currently operates and mainta ins two
airports in the county, and is willing to assume operative
responsibility for the Marco Island Airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT 'R'ESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the Board of county Commissione~s urges the
Legislative Delegation representing Collier County to consider the
transfer of the Marco Island Airport to Collier Cnunty for the
purpose of locnl government operation and maintenance.
Section~. That the Collier County Board of County
commissioners does hereby designate this effort as a top pri0~ity
and hereby directs its staff to provide such informatio~l and
support as is necessary, in accordance with this p'k.iority
designation and other on-going programs.
sect~~~. That the Collier County Board r)f County
Commissioners directs that copies of this resoJution be
transmitted to the individual members of the Legi~lative
Delegation representing Collier county, Florida.
