RESOLUTION NO. 89- ~
A RESOLUTION BY THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER
COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO AUTHORIZE
SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION TO
THE FEDERAL DEPARTMENT OF
HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT,
JACKSONVILLE AREA OFFICE, UNDER
THE RENTAL REHABIL"-TATION
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Housing Element of the Collier County
Growth Management Plan in Objective 1.1, states that by
1994, substandard units, as identified, shall be verified
and programs
developed and
implemented to eliminate
substandard housing through rehabilitation, repair, and
demolition; and
WHEREAS, the Board of
Countl' Commissioners
has
recognized that there presently exists in Collier County a
large number of citizens whose income causes them to be
within the income limits as established by the Federal
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for very
low-income families; and
WHEREAS, based on future population growth projections,
this number is expected to increase; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and
Urban Development has funds for cities and counties on a
competitive basis for the rehabilitation of rental hOUSing
units that will be rented to families and individuals whose
income is less than 80% of the median income for the area;
and
WHEREAS, in order to reside in safe, decent and
sanitary housing, these citizens require assistance from the
Collier County Housing Assistance Program.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY '.('HE BOARD OF . COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, THAT:
The Collier County Board of Commissioners
hereby
directs the C~llier County Department of Housing and Urban
Development to prepare an application for the U. S.
Housing
and Urban Development Rental
Department of
Rehabilitation Assistance Program.
The Chairman of the Board of COUllty Commissioners is
authorized to sign the necessary application form requesting
rental rehabilitation grants and direc': submission of the
application to the Federal Department of Housing and Urban
Development, Jacksonville Area Office, under the Rental
Rehabilitation Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be recorded
by the Official Clerk of Courts in the Public Records of
Collier County, Florida.
