RESOLUTION REQUESTING FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION TO APPROVE A
$7,500.00 GRANT PURSUANT TO SECTION 403.763,
FLORIDA STATUTES, TO UPGRADE AND EXPEND USED
OIL COLLECTION FACILITIES AT COLLIER COUNTY
SOLID WASTE TRANSFER STATIONS AND LANDFILLS
WHEREAS, section 403.763, Florida statute~, provides for the
Florida Department of Environmental Regulation (FDER) to develop
a grants program for local governments to enco~rage the
collection, reuse and proper disposal of said oil, and
WHEREAS, Section 403.763, Florida Statues, states that (N)o
grant may be made by FDER unless such project is approved,bY the
"
FDER, and
WHEREAS, section 403.763, Florida Statutes, also ,provides '
that FDER shall consider for grant assistance any local
government project that uses one or more of certain described
programs or any activity that FDER considers will reduce the
improper disposal and reuse of used oil; and
WHEREAS, Collier County has recognized the adverse
environmental effects of promiscuous waste oil disposal and
thereupon has initiated and provided waste oil depositories at
its Solid Waste facilities for the past five (5) years, and
WHEREAS, an award of grant funds to Collier countybY,FDER
under Section 403.763, Florida Statutes, would enable Collier
County to upgrade and expand its waste oil depositories project

in Collier County, and

WHEREAS, an award of such grant funds would further enhance
Collier County's ability to assure a cleaner environment and add
to the County's ability to protect ground wa~~r resources.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, THAT Collier County
hereby respectfullY petitions and requests the Florida Department
of Environmental Regulation to consider awarding grant:~ssistance
