Resolution 2023-191 RESOLUTION NO. 2023 -1 91
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY,
FLORIDA, DECLARING A PUBLIC PURPOSE FOR THE SOLICITATION, RECEIPT, AND
EXPENDITURE OF DONATIONS TO COLLIER COUNTY DOMESTIC ANIMAL SERVICES
AND AUTHORIZING CREATION OF THE ANIMAL MEDICAL TREATMENT FUND.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County finds there is a compelling
public purpose for the Domestic Animal Services Division ("DAS") to solicit, receive, and expend
donations from private individuals, private corporations, community groups, and/or any other class of
donors, for the purpose of facilitating health and medical treatment for animals at DAS or DAS animals
adopted contingent on certain medical expenditures being paid by the County; and
WHEREAS, the Board finds that the following activities serve a public purpose including, but not
limited to: providing medical treatment for animals in the care of DAS, animals that will be adopted by
DAS, or DAS animals adopted contingent on certain medical expenditures being paid by the County; and
WHEREAS, the Board finds it necessary for DAS to work with the Clerk of Court and
Comptroller's Department of Finance, and the Office of Management and Budget, to create a DAS Animal
Medical Treatment Trust Fund Account for the collection and accounting of'DAS monetary donations, and
the Board requests the Clerk of Court and Comptroller's Department of Finance, and the Office of
Management and Budget, to cooperate with DAS in establishing and maintaining said account in
compliance with Florida Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the Board authorizes DAS to solicit and accept monetary donations and to spend the
donations in a consistent manner consistent with the stated public purpose; and
WHEREAS, the Board further approves obtaining private and public donations for the sole benefit
of DAS and its stated public purpose.
NOW THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA.. that the Board hereby declares that there is a public purpose both as
to the solicitation of donations,the receipt of such donations,the expenditure of said donations,and creating
a donation trust fund account for this purpose in the manner of and for the reasons set forth above.
