PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the State of Florida is dedicated to improving air quality,
reducing traffic congestion, promoting health and physical
fitness, and reducing energy consumption; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation, District One,
through its Commuter Services Program, contributes to these
stated goals by reducing traffic congestion and lowering
greenhouse gas emissions throughout the region by promoting
the use of alternative commute modes; and
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners and Collier
Area Transit (CAT) are promoting "Try Transit Day" on
November 5 to raise awareness of our routes in Collier
County; and
WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners encourages
the use of transit to access various destinations throughout
Collier County; and
WHEREAS, CAT will offer free rides on November 5 - "Try Transit Day"
for the convenient use of public transit;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners
of Collier County, Florida, that November 5, 2021, be
designated as
TRY TRANSIT DAY IN COLLIER DAY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 26th Day of October 2021.
