RESOLUTION NO. 2007--11B
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COUNTY APPROVING THE RENAMING OF THE GORDON
RIVER WATER QUALITY PARK TO FREEDOM PARK.
WHEREAS, on June 7, 2007 the Freedom Memorial Task Force approved and endorsed
renaming the Gordon River Water Quality Park, located at the comer of Goodlette Frank Road
and Golden Gate Parkway, to "Freedom Park" (the "Park"); and
WHEREAS, the Freedom Memorial will be situated within the Park to allow the public
to enjoy the passive nature of the park and promote reflection upon the purpose of the memorial;
and;
Whereas, it has been determined that renaming this facility to "Freedom Park" will
benefit the public at large and promote the placement of the Freedom Memorial within that
County property; and
Whereas, this matter has been referred to the Board by the County Manager with the
approval of the Freedom Memorial Task Force and the recommendation of the County
Stormwater Management Department.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
I. The Gordon River Water Quality Park shall hereafter be named "Freedom Park."
2. The County Manager is hereby directed to take all appropriate action required to
facilitate the renaming of this facility.
PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, this 24th day of July, 2007.
