PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, on May 30, 1991, nine local residents and community leaders who
were concerned about happenings at Naples City Hall gathered at
a local law office as the organizational meeting of what was to
be named The Naples Better Government Committee; and
WHEREAS, upon application to the State of Florida Division of Elections,
said organization was granted the status as a Committee of
Continuous Existence on October 1, 1991; and
WHEREAS, said Committee, now known as Naples Better Government seeks
to advance ethical and effective government in Collier County and
the State of Florida through candidate endorsements,
evaluations, and grading; and
WHEREAS, Naples Better Government engages in informed political discussion
about issues affecting the community; and
WHEREAS, Naples Better Government, has operated continuously for 30
years as a non-partisan political committee since its organization
and recognition by the State of Florida in 1991;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Board of County Commissioners
of Collier County, Florida, congratulates and sends its warmest
wishes to Naples Better Government on its 30th anniversary and
that October 1, 2021, be designated as
NAPLES BETTER GOVERNMENT DAY
IN COLLIER COUNTY
