Backup Documents 09/14/2021 Item # 4D 4 PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Collier County Board of County Commissioners recognizes the 200th Anniversary of the Consummation of the Independence of the country of Mexico; and WHEREAS, on this occasion, just as for the last 26 years, the Office of the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami in collaboration with Miami-Dade College, celebrated on Saturday, September 12' with a festival of thousands of people who gathered to declare the traditional !Viva Mexico!; and WHEREAS, the ceremony of the "Grito" was led by the Consul General of Mexico in Miami, Jonathan Chait, who spoke the names of the historic heroes of Independence; and WHEREAS, the "Fiestas Patrias" celebration promotes the country's roots and identity of Mexicans abroad; and WHEREAS, we recognize the country of Mexico's efforts in its aim to participate effectively and meaningfully in global affairs; and WHEREAS, the country of Mexico aspires to further contribute to international development and to promote peace and prosperity; and WHEREAS, we continue to support her mission of economic liberalization, political democratization and significant participation in the international arena; and WHEREAS, we value our association with the Office of the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami and hope to further solidify our relationship with this office in the coming years; NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, congratulates and sends its warmest wishes to the Office of the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami as they commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Independence of Mexico. !Viva Mexico!
