EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve and authorize the Chairman to sign an Amendment to the Interlocal
Agreement for Agricultural Extension Agent Services with the University of Florida Institute of
Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension (UF IFAS) to correct the annual amount to $26,971.08,
for a cost reduction to Collier County of $5,451.44.
OBJECTIVE: To pay an appropriate share of cost under the Interlocal Agreement for Agricultural
Extension Agent Services, which funds multi-county commercial agriculture extension agents shared by
five (5) neighboring counties.
CONSIDERATIONS: Since 2009, Collier County along with Lee County, Charlotte County, Glades
County, and Hendry County has utilized the “win-win” Interlocal agreement to share the expenses for the
valuable expertise of specialized multi-county agriculture agents who are experts in Commercial
Vegetable Production, Commercial Citrus Production, and Commercial Livestock Production. This
agreement provides the necessary ongoing education, support, and cutting-edge science plus best
agricultural practices to the commercial agriculture producers who generate more than $3.26 billion
dollars in Gross Regional Product annually.
On March 24, 2020, (Item #16D3), the Board of County Commissioners approved an Interlocal
Agreement for Services and Education via Multi-County Agricultural Extension Agent Services. An
amendment is required in order to correct the basis for the expense and to adjust the Collier County
amount accordingly. This change has been validated by staff and the office of the Clerk of Courts.
FISCAL IMPACT: The annual funding is budgeted within the General Fund (001) approval of this
Amendment will result in a cost annual savings of $5,451.44.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement is being signed in
counterparts due to the number of parties involved. All counties will receive a copy with all signatures.
This Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement has been reviewed by the County Attorney’s Office for
form and legality. -JAB

AMENDMENT TO INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT FOR
AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AGENT SERVICES
This Amendment to that certain Interlocal Agreement for Agricultural Extension
Agent Services (hereinafter, "the Agreement") by and between the University ofFlorida
Board of Trustees, a public body corporate ofthe State ofFlorida (..University"), for the
benefit ofthe Florida cooperative Extension Service (the "Extension service") established
as part ofthe Institute ofFood and Agricultural Sciences, and charlotte county, a political
subdivision ofthe State ofFlorida; Collier County, a political subdivision ofthe State of
Florida; Glades County, a political subdivision of the State ofFlorida; Lee County, a
political subdivision ofthe State of Florida (collectively referred to as the "Contributing
Counties"), and Hendry County ("Hendry"), a political subdivision of the State ofFlorida,
is entered into by the parties effective the

WHEREAS, effective October l, 2019, the Parties entered into that certain
Interlocal Agreement for Agricultural Extension Agent Services; and
WHEREAS, Attachment 1 to the Agreement provides the 2019-2020 contributions
per County; and
WHEREAS, the amounts set forth therein for agents' salaries and benefits and for
agents' support (office operation budget) for each County were in error.
NOW THEREFORE, the parties hereby agree as follows:
Attachment 1, attached hereto, shall replace the Attachment I that is attached to the
Agreement.
In all other ways the Agreement is unmodified.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have executed or have caused this
Agreement to be duly executed in several counterparts, each of which counterpart shall be
considered an original executed copy of this Agreement, the day and year first wdtlen
above.
