EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to approve the proposed annual holiday event known as the Christmas
Around the World Parade & Snow Festival hosted by the Immokalee Chamber of
Commerce. This recommendation is to fulfill a requirement of the Florida Depar tment of
Transportation (FDOT) temporary road closure permit application. This event has been
hosted by the Immokalee Chamber of Commerce for over twenty -five (25) years. This year
the event will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 5pm to 10pm.
OBJECTIVE: To provide a certified copy of minutes of a duly scheduled Board of County
Commissioners meeting to approve the Christmas Around the World Parade & Snow Festival
and the parade route, hosted by the Immokalee Chamber of Commerce. This is a requirement of
FDOT’s temporary road closure permit application.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Florida Administrative Code Rule 14-65.0035, Temporary Closing of
State Road for Special Events, requires a certified copy of an excerpt from the minutes of a duly
scheduled meeting, or duly executed resolution, of the local government entity authorizing the
special event.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact associated with this action.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact associated
with this action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This event does not qualify for an exception to the prior
written approval by the local government entity under Rule 14-65.0025(2), F.A.C. This item is
approved as to form and legality, and it requires a majority vote for approval. -DDP
RECOMMENDATION: Recommendation to find that the road closure is necessary for the event
and authorize the Immokalee Chamber of Commerce to host their annual holiday event known as
Christmas Around the World Parade & Snow Festival and the parade route. This
recommendation is to fulfill a requirement of the FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation)
temporary road closure permit application.
