EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a budget amendment, in the amount of $186,475, within Stormwater
Operating Fund 103, Stormwater Maintenance Cost Center 172929 to acquire mowing equipment.
OBJECTIVE: To procure equipment required to maintain proper stormwater swale drainage and safe
travel ways for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic on County maintained rights of way.
CONSIDERATIONS: The current piece of equipment (Asset #CC2-983), which is a John Deere Tractor
with a Machete mowing boom attachment and is used to mow back vegetation off the County maintained
rights of way has reached the end of its useful life span and needs to be replaced. Repairs on this asset
have reached $93,000 with an awaiting repair of another $43,000 and is currently inoperable. It has
accrued 1,357 hours of operational hours but has also been out of service for long periods of time due to
the number of repairs that it has required. This equipment is vital for vegetation control and stormwater
swale maintenance. It is not due for replacement until FY22.
To address this issue the department is looking to replace the current inoperable equipment with a Mower
Max/Gen. V to ensure continuity of operations.
VENDOR Florida Sheriffs Contract Price
Atmax Equipment Company $186,475.00
FISCAL IMPACT: A budget amendment in the amount of $186,475.00 is required within Stormwater
Maintenance Cost Center 103-172929 for the purchase of this mowing equipment.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management impact associated with this
action.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: To approve and authorize a budget amendment to transfer of $186,475.00
within the Stormwater Maintenance Fund (103-172929) to acquire this piece of equipment.
