Existing pedestrian bridges were installed in 2008 with funding from FHWA.
In order to replace the vehicular bridge these two structures will be removed and repurposed, if possible.
New bridge will include 12’ wide sidewalk path on both sides, 12’ travel lanes, 13’wide landscaped median.

Bridge was originally built in 1971 as a four-lane structure within 130 feet of right of way; pedestrian bridges added in 2008
FDOT Bridge Inspection Reports have classified this bridge as structurally deficient
Fast- track project due to the condition of the bridge - Design-Build (DB) option was selected
Estimated DB contract cost $5.1 M
December 2021 – March 2023 (15 months to complete DB project)

June 24, 2020: contract with Atkins for an Environmental Planning Study
(under the Annual Engineering Contract Agreement, $200,000); study completed in December 2020.
Change Order No.1 – expand Atkins scope of services to include environmental permitting and engineering consultation (instead of waiting for the DB contract)
Increase the budget in the amount of $79,712.40, and extend the length of the Work Order by 485 days
