PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development provides the
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment
Partnerships (HOME) Program to allow local communities to complete
various community building and improvement projects; and
WHEREAS, the CDBG Program provides annual funding and flexibility to provide
decent, safe and affordable housing, a suitable living environment, and
economic opportunities to low- and moderate-income people; and
WHEREAS, the HOME Program provides funding to local communities to create
decent, safe, and affordable housing opportunities for low-income
persons; and
WHEREAS, over the past five years, Collier County has received a combined
$14,454,996 in CDBG and HOME funding that has greatly impacted our
local community; and
WHEREAS, the week of April 5 - 9, 2021 has been designated as National
Community Development Week by the National Community Development
Association to celebrate the Community Development Block Grant
(CDBG) Program and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME)
Program; and encourage all citizens to join in supporting community
development activities throughout this week;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that April 5 - 9, 2021 be designated as
NATIONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK
IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 23rd Day of March 2021.
