EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to adopt a Resolution authorizing execution of Amendment for Extension of
Public Transportation Grant Agreement (PTGA) G0Z16 with the Florida Department of
Transportation to extend the end date of the Agreement for the Security Enhancements at the
Immokalee Regional Airport from June 30, 2021 to December 31, 2021 to provide sufficient time
for project completion.
OBJECTIVE: To accept an extension of the end date of the Agreement from the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) for Security Enhancements at the Immokalee Regional Airport (IMM).
CONSIDERATIONS: On January 8, 2019, Agenda Item 16G2, the Board of County Commissioners
(Board), sitting as the Collier County Airport Authority (Authority), accepted a Public T ransportation
Grant Agreement (PTGA), Contract No. G0Z16, with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)
in the amount of $200,000 for security enhancements at IMM. The estimated project budget was
$250,000.
On October 8, 2019, Agenda Item 16G1, Board, sitting as Airport Authority, accepted Amendment No. 1
to PTGA G0Z16 in the amount of $480,000 for additional funding for the construction phase of this
project. The Amendment included a revised project budget of $850,000. Funding for the required local
twenty percent (20%) match will come from Airport Capital Fund (496) Reserves.
The project is on schedule for completion, however the current Grant expiration date set for June 30, 2021
will need to be extended to December 31, 2021 to account for the additional time incurred to satisfy the
updated County requirements for Access Control and Security Monitoring Systems; obtain Information
Technology approval for proposed technology; and fulfill design parameters as related to Collier County
permitting inquiries.
The Authority has received an Amendment for Extension to extend the end date of the current Agreement
from June 30, 2021 to December 31, 2021 to provide sufficient time for project completion. A resolution
is also required.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no additional fiscal impact related to the extension of the Grant Agreement.
Funding for this project is budgeted within Airport Grant Fund (498) and Airport Match Fund (499),
Project 33604. Sources of funding include an FDOT Grant and transfers from Airport Capital Fund (496).
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
Executive Summary.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority vote
for Board action. -JAB
