PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Collier Area Transit (CAT) services are vital to the quality of life and economic
well-being of all citizens in Collier County; and
WHEREAS, CAT is celebrating 20 years of excellent public transit service in February 2021,
increasing service levels from five to nineteen routes over the years and providing
over 18.4 million cumulative trips to residents and visitors since 2001; and
WHEREAS, CAT's public transportation services are making a difference in the daily lives of
senior citizens, people with disabilities, workers, and those unable to afford an
automobile by enabling these individuals to gain access to health care, jobs, and
other fundamental services in the community; and
WHEREAS, CAT's public transportation services help Collier County achieve its goals of
providing safe, affordable and reliable transportation, protecting the environment
by reducing fuel consumption, conserving energy, improving quality of life by
promoting self-reliance and independence for those most in need and providing for
the health, safety and security of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Collier County strives to promote the benefits of public transportation, honors the
service of CAT employees, appreciates all the CAT riders and acknowledges the
value of the transportation services provided to the community by CAT on the
occasion of its 20mh anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Collier County residents are called upon to support public transportation, promote
the fundamental role that public transportation plays in our community, and to
celebrate the outstanding services that Collier Area Transit and its employees
provide to all residents of Collier County;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that February 26, 2021 be designated as
COLLIER AREA TRANSITS 20T"ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION DAY
IN COLLIER COUNTY
