EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation that the Board of County Commissioners approve Change Order No. 2 to
Contract Number 18-7466 with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. to extend the contract time for
CEI (Construction Engineering Inspection) services associated with the Thomasson Drive
Beautification Project and authorize the Chairman to execute the attached agreement.
OBJECTIVE: To extend contract number 18-7466 with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. (AECOM)
for an additional 200 days to continue CEI (Construction Engineering Inspection) services associated with
the Thomasson Drive Beautification Project until the construction project is completed.
CONSIDERATIONS: On July 9, 2019, the contract with AECOM was awarded to provide CEI services
to assist with the construction of the Thomasson Drive Beautification project. In February 2020, the
construction contract was awarded to Wright Construction, however due to COVID -19 the Notice to
Proceed was not issued until May 6, 2020.
The construction phase of this project has been extended due to utility conflicts that were discovered
during construction. Completion of the project is scheduled for June 1, 2021. This change will provide an
additional 200 days to allow AECOM to complete the CEI services and process the close out
documentation necessary to complete this project. The change being requested was not included in the
original contract schedule.
The current completion date of the contract with AECOM is March 23, 2021. Per the Procurement
Ordinance, modifications to contracts that exceed 20% of the current Board approved number of days
must be approved by the Board of County Commissioners.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact to this time extension.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no impact to the Growth Management Plan related to
this action.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS: On February 3, 2021, the Bayshore
Beautification MSTU Advisory Board recommended approval of this Change Order.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to
form and legality and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners approve Change Order No. 2 to
Contract Number 18-7466 with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. to extend the contract time for CEI
(Construction Engineering Inspection) services associated with the Thomasson Drive Beautification
Project and authorize the Chairman to execute the attached agreement.
