EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to discuss recent developments regarding the Parks and Recreation Advisory
Board.
OBJECTIVE: To discuss the recent developments of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
(PARAB).
CONSIDERATIONS: During its February 9th Board Meeting the Board, under item 12B, discussed the
recommended appointment of two members to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. The primary
issue discussed was the application of Kathleen Curatolo, who due to a scheduling error did not appear for
the interviews by the PARAB for the vacant position and was thus not one of the two recommended
candidates. The Board sent the item back to the PARAB asking the PARAB to reconduct the interviews
and make a new recommendation. The Chair of the Committee, Phillip Brougham resigned from the
Committee, and then withdrew his resignation. Because of the vacancies on the Committee and COVID
concerns, the resignation of Mr. Brougham has left the PARAB unable to conduct a meeting with an in -
person quorum, which in turn has caused the cancellation of their scheduled February 17th meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: This action will result in no growth management impact.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal
issues at this time, and requires majority support for Board action. - JAK
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board discuss the recent developments of the PARAB.
