EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint two members to the Vanderbilt Waterway MSTU Advisory
Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint one member and appoint one new member to the Vanderbilt Waterway
MSTU Advisory Committee, to four-year terms expiring on February 12, 2025.
CONSIDERATIONS: This five-member committee was created on December 11, 2018, by Ordinance
No. 18-64 to assist the BCC in carrying out the purposes of the MSTU of providing for dredging and
maintenance of the Vanderbilt Waterway between the Bluebill Bridge and the Cocohatchee River within
the boundaries of the MSTU. The committee will prepare and recommend an itemized budget to the
Board of County Commissioners, and recommend work programs and priorities in accordance with the
adopted budget. Members must be permanent residents within the MSTU. After initial appointments,
terms are 4 years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
Two seats on the committee will expire on February 12, 2021. The pending vacancies were advertised and
applications were received from the following:

ATTENDANCE: Mr. Cuny has had perfect attendance to all meetings of the committee.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its regular meeting on February 1, 2021, the committee
voted unanimously to recommend that Mr. Cuny be reappointed to his seat, and that Mr. Burke be
appointed as a new member, both to four-year terms expiring on February 12, 2025. A recommendation
email is included in the backup to this item.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and authorizes the Chair to execute the attached resolution confirming the
appointments.

RESOLUTION NO. 2021 - _____
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, APPOINTING CLINT CUNY AND
THOMAS BURKE, JR. TO THE VANDERBILT WATERWAY
MUNICIPAL SERVICE TAXING UNIT ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, on December 11, 2018, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) adopted
Ordinance No. 2018-64, which established the Vanderbilt Waterway Municipal Service Taxing
Unit (MSTU) to provide dredging services for Vanderbilt Waterway; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2018-64 also created the Vanderbilt Waterway Municipal
Service Taxing Unit Advisory Committee (Committee) to assist the Board in carrying out the
MSTU in accordance with the Ordinance, and structured the Committee to have five members,
who generally represent the area within the MSTU; and
WHEREAS, there are two seats on the Committee which expire on February 12, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Board previously provided public notice soliciting applications from
interested parties; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has provided the Board with its recommendation for
appointment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that CLINT CUNY and THOMAS
BURKE, JR., are hereby appointed to the Vanderbilt Waterway Municipal Service Taxing Unit
Advisory Committee to serve four-year terms expiring on February 12, 2025.
THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED upon majority vote on this the 9th day of February, 2021.
