EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to accept maintenance of the Bridge over the Cocahatchee Canal and connected
roadway at Logan Boulevard & Immokalee Road, as depicted on the attached map, for the
perpetual use by the public.
OBJECTIVE: For the County to resume maintenance of the roadway and Bridge No. 034191 at Logan
Boulevard & Immokalee Road over the Cocahatchee Canal.
CONSIDERATIONS: On March 27, 2018, the Board, under item 16.A.2.a, approved the transfer of
ownership and maintenance for Bridge 034191 from Stock Development to the County.
On May 10, 2018, the Board approved under item 16.A.1.b, the First Amendment to the “Amended and
Restated Developer Agreement,” between Collier County and Parklands Development (“GL Homes”),
which granted an extension to complete the improvements to the Logan Boulevard and Immokalee Road
intersection (included Bridge 034191).
On January 31, 2020, GL Homes started construction which was completed on October 1, 2020. The
improvements included the extension of the existing Bridge and adding turn lanes to the intersection. The
Developer’s letter of construction completion permit certification from the South Florida Water
Management District is attached, and the Florida Department of Transportation has issued a revised
Bridge Inspection Report with no findings of significance. Therefore, staff recommends that the Board
accepts the Bridge back into the county’s regular maintenance schedule.
FISCAL IMPACT: The regular maintenance will become a part of the committed annual funding that is
included as part of the Road and Bridge Maintenance Fund (101) budget. No immediate repair or
maintenance costs are anticipated due to the satisfactory inspection recently completed.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: Acceptance of this facility into the County system is
consistent with the Transportation Element of the Growth Management Plan.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to
form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK
RECOMMENDATION: To accept maintenance of the Bridge over the Cocahatchee Canal and
connected roadway at Logan Boulevard & Immokalee Road, as depicted on the attached map, for the
perpetual use by the public.
