EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint two members to the Vanderbilt Beach Beautification MSTU
Advisory Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint two members to the Vanderbilt Beach Beautification MSTU Advisory
Committee to four-year terms expiring on November 13, 2024.
CONSIDERATIONS: This five -member committee was established on July 31, 2001 by Ordinance No.
2001-43. The committee assists the BCC in carrying out the purposes of the MSTU, prepares and
recommends to the BCC an itemized budget for the MSTU, and recommends work programs and
priorities to the County Manager. Members must be permanent residents within the MSTU boundaries.
Terms are 4 years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
Two seats on this committee will expire on November 13, 2020. The pending vacancies were advertised
and applications were received from the following:

ATTENDANCE: In the past two years Mr. Harris has had three excused absences, and Mr. Sjostrom has
had one excused absence. Attendance records are included in the backup.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: The committee has reviewed the applications and voted to
recommend that Mr. Sjostrom and Mr. Harris each be reappointed to their respective seats on the
committee, to four-year terms which shall expire on November 13, 2024. A recommendation memo is
included in the backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and authorizes the Chair to execute the attached resolution confirming the
reappointments.

During the special meeting of the Vanderbilt Beautification Advisory committee meeting held on October
27,2020. William Sjostrom, and William Harris were recommended to continue as members of the Committee
by a vote of 5-0. Mr. Paul DeMarco was deemed not eligible due to not living within the boundaries of the
MSTU as required by the governing ordinance.

RESOLUTION NO. 2020 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, REAPPOINTING WILLIAM
KENNETH SJOSTROM AND WILLIAM ARELL HARRIS TO THE
VANDERBILT BEACH BEAUTIFICATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, Collier County Ordinance No. 2001-43 established the Vanderbilt Beach
Beautification Advisory Committee (Committee) to aid and assist the Board of County
Commissioners (Board) in carrying out the purposes of the Vanderbilt Beach Beautification
Municipal Service Taxing Unit (MSTU); and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2001-43, as amended, provides that this Committee shall
consist of five members who reside within the MSTU; and
WHEREAS, there are two seats on this Committee which will expire on November 13,
2020; and
WHEREAS, the Board previously provided public notice soliciting applications from
interested parties; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has provided the Board with its recommendation for
reappointment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that WILLIAM KENNETH
SJOSTROM and WILLIAM ARELL HARRIS are each hereby reappointed to their respective
seats on the Vanderbilt Beach Beautification Advisory Committee, to serve four-year terms
which shall expire on November 13, 2024.
