Agenda 10/13/2020 Item #16E 3 (Everglades City Surplus Vehicle)10/13/2020 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to donate a surplus vehicle to Everglades City and authorize the Procurement Director, as designee for County Manager, to sign for the transfer of vehicle title. ___________________________________________________________________________________ OBJECTIVE: To provide Everglades City with a vehicle that exceeded its useful life and was scheduled for auction. CONSIDERATIONS: The County has designated a vehicle as surplus that Everglades City has expressed an interest in acquiring. This vehicle identified, Asset number CC2-105(VIN: 1FTSX21508EA02095), is a 2008 Ford F250 Super Cab 4x4 with approximately 80,000 miles. The vehicle is twelve (12) years old, accrued approximately $11,000 in repairs, and retainment would have required further rehabilitation. It was replaced this year as part of our vehicular capital replacement plan in our wastewater department. Although the vehicle has exceeded the County's useful life criteria, it can be put to use by Everglades City for a period of time, rather than simply auctioned. Pursuant to Florida Statute Chapter 274.05, local governments may donate surplus assets to local not for profit organizations or other government agencies. FISCAL IMPACT: The estimated auction value of the vehicle is $8,500, which revenue the County would lose as a result of the donation. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, is approved as to form and legality, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this item. RECOMMENDATION: To authorize the donation of the vehicle identified on the attachment to this item to Everglades City, and to authorize the Procurement Director as designee for County Manager, to sign for the transfer of the vehicle title.
