P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, National Economic Development Week was created by the International
Economic Development Council in 2016; and
WHEREAS, the 2020 week was originally scheduled for May 4 - 9, 2020; and
WHEREAS, due to COVID-19 the scheduled week was postponed to September 21-
25, 2020; and
WHEREAS, National Economic Development Week increases awareness of local
economic development programs; and
WHEREAS, economic development promotes economic well-being and quality of life
for communities by creating, retaining and expanding jobs that
facilitate growth, enhance wealth and provide a stable tax base; and
WHEREAS, economic development stimulates and incubates entrepreneurism to help
establish the next generation of new businesses; and
WHEREAS, economic development involves the business community and urban and
rural, local, state, provincial, and federal governments, public-private
partnerships, chambers of commerce, universities and many other
institutions; and
WHEREAS, Collier Economic Development Office, Collier County Board of
Commissioners, the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, and others
work together to provide a wide spectrum of economic development
services for Collier County;
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that September 21-25, 2020, be designated as
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WEEK IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 8th Day of September, 2020.
