Agenda 09/08/2020 Item #16F4 (Budget Amendments)09/08/2020 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to authorize Budget Amendments to continue funding paramedic staffing at Fire Station 63 on Alligator Alley in the amount of $8,000, approval of this action will allow the County to true-up the local match contribution with Greater Naples Fire District (GNFD) through FY20. OBJECTIVE: To continue to paramedic staffing at Fire Station 63 and be compliant with FDOT funding requirements. CONSIDERATIONS: On September 13, 2016, the County entered into a Management Agreement with Greater Naples Fire District to manage the County’s Ochopee Fire Control District, which included Fire Station 63 located on Alligator Alley. This agreement was amended on July 9, 2019 to extend management services through September 2020 and reflect anticipated additional FDOT requirements Pursuant to this agreement, the County assigned the Interlocal Agreement with FDOT, which provided funding for Station 63, to Greater Naples. Effective July 1, 2019, the Florida Legislature amended the provisions of Section 338.26(3), Chapter 2019-153, governing funding operations of Fire Station 63 to provide funding through FY2027 and require the local governmental entity to contribute 10 percent of the direct actual operating costs. FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are available from FDOT through GNFD. A budget amendment in the amount of $8,000 is required within EMS Match Fund 494, Project 33356. The local match support is available within EMS Operating Fund 490 from the Annual Operating General Fund (001) Transfer. LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item has been reviewed by the County Attorney, raises no legal issues, and requires majority vote for approval. -JAK GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no Growth Management Impact resulting from this action. RECOMMENDATION: To authorize Budget Amendments in the amount of $8,000 to continue paramedic staffing at Fire Station 63 and allow the County to reimburse Greater Naples for the required local match associated with paramedic staffing.
