EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to appoint a member to the Haldeman Creek Dredging Maintenance Advisory
Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To appoint a member to the Haldeman Creek Dredging Maintenance Advisory
Committee, to the remainder of a term expiring on March 13, 2022.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Haldeman Creek Dredging Maintenance Advisory Committee is a five
member committee created on November 28, 2006 by Ordinance 2006-60, to aid and assist the Board of
County Commissioners in carrying out the purposes of the MSTU, to prepare and recommend an itemized
budget, and to recommend work programs and priorities. Members are to be appointed from different
parcels, subdivisions and/or communities within the MSTU. Terms are four years. A list of the current
membership is included in the backup.
There is a vacant seat on this committee. The vacancy was advertised and applications were received
from the following:

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting on June 11, 2020, the committee voted
unanimously to recommend that the Board appoint Jacob Dutry van Haeften to this committee, to the
remainder of a four-year term expiring on March 13, 2022. A recommendation memo is included in the
backup.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and authorizes the Chair to execute the attached resolution confirming the
appointment.

SUBJECT: Haldeman Creek MSTU New Member Recommendation – Jacob Dutry Van
Haeften
The Haldeman Creek MSTU Committee met on Thursday, June 11, 2020 to review the
applications submitted for the Advisory Committee vacancy. Mr. Greg Orick did not register to
attend the virtual meeting held on zoom and was not in attendance. Mr. Jacob Dutry Van Haeften
did register and attended. After a brief discussion with Mr. Haeften the committee voted
unanimously (4-0) to recommend Mr. Haeften as a new member to the advisory committee.
Section VI of Ordinance 06-60, Sub-section b outlines the qualifications to be a committee
member as: “…said members shall be permanent residents within the MSTU and electors of
Collier County…” Mr. Haeften resides within the MSTU boundaries and is a full-time resident
of the county.

RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - _____
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA APPOINTING JACOB DUTRY VAN
HAEFTEN TO THE HALDEMAN CREEK DREDGING MAINTENANCE
ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, Collier County Ordinance No. 2006-60 established the Haldeman Creek
Dredging Maintenance Advisory Committee to assist the Board of County Commissioners in
carrying out the purposes of the Haldeman Creek Dredging Municipal Service Taxing Unit
(MSTU); and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2006-60, as amended, provides that this Advisory Committee
shall be composed of five members who reside within and generally represent the MSTU; and
WHEREAS, there is a vacant seat on this Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners previously provided public notice
soliciting applications from interested parties; and
WHEREAS, the Advisory Committee has provided the Board of County Commissioners
with its recommendation for appointment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that JACOB DUTRY VAN
HAEFTEN is hereby appointed to the Haldeman Creek Dredging Maintenance Advisory
Committee to serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring on March 13, 2022.
THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED after majority vote on the 14th day of July, 2020.
